Help me find this vintage-style tub
Comments (10)You might like the Cypress acrylic corner bathtub found at ttp://deabath.com/index.html. If you click on the picture at the site you can see the tub specifications, with cross sections and dimensions. The Cypress tub is new for this year so there likely won't be many (or any) reviews of this particular tub out there. However, the specifications include Strom Plumbing by Sign of the Crab at the top of the pdf page, so you might be able to find reviews related to the manufacturer if you use those for search words. The price is $2250 but that includes the drain, so that puts the cost of the tub itself lower. Nice to take into consideration when doing comparisons with other tubs. DEA Bath has been in the business for a long time and is a reputable company. I bought a sink from them and had a good experience throughout. They ship all around the country; the charge is dependent on location and distance. In case you decide to get a vintage one they carry those, too, in the style youâÂÂre looking for. Check out the hard to fine colored fixtures section under the original antiques tab and they have a tub, sink and toilet set that's in relatively good shape. Also go to the antique tubs section under the original antiques tab to see the white tubs they currently have. Their vintage inventory is always changing, so if they don't have what you're looking for now they may get it in later. Comments (3)If you can afford to import one from Australia, Caroma's "Vintage" is just plain gorgeous. Just for grins I priced out having one imported a couple of years ago. It was well over two grand to have it air-shipped (or $1500ish and many months' wait if shipped by sea - one dealer said it could be the better part of a year, and heaven forbid it arrived damaged). I laughed for a long, long time. Why they don't market them here in the US I have no idea, with the boom in old-house restoration they would make a mint. (The Caroma Colonial is the closest to the Vintage that you can get in the US.) Cheviot's and Gerber's dual flush aren't too awful looking, it's at least very plain as opposed to being very modern-looking like Toto's Aquia and most of the Caroma offerings. Rensup.com has a whole bunch but I can't tell who makes them: a couple of them look somewhat like Cheviots, another looks just like Eljer. I thought I saw a post recently that someone had a problem with something they ordered there arriving damaged but I can't find the post. If you're leaning toward the Deco end of the subway/console/basketweave spectrum take a look at Sterling's Rockton model, which has kind of a Deco-ish look to the tank. (Sterling products are made by Kohler.) BTW, linked below is a listing of dual flush toilets currently available in the US as of May 2007. I was too lazy to go through all of them. :-) Here is a link that might be useful: dual flush toilets...See MorePls help re: accent tile/c-top for vintage style all white bath
Comments (1)I'm in a similar predicament, so I can relate. In a kids' bath I don't think I'd do cararra for the countertop because of etching and staining. I'd do either silestone, soapstone or maybe the cardosa. Instead of white grout, consider doing a gray grout. It doesn't stain and the gray lines give a nice vintage feel, and provide a graphic punch so you might not need to add additional color in the tile. If you search for white subway tile gray grout here I am sure many pics will come up....See MoreVintage style shower massage and heart pine laminate flooring
Comments (4)I would agree regarding original old fixtures. That's why we chose an old tub but added new vintage style fixtures. We could change the fittings and add a better hand held shower, but it wouldn't look great. Hoping that someone makes a "telephone" style that would match. I know purists would never dream of covering heart pine, and ideally, I'd love to have the floors refinished. But realistically, I don't know anyone who's moved within the last few years who would be enthusiastic about doing it again this soon. If you add furniture storage, lodging, and dog kenneling for a week to that, it's just not practical for two seniors. I'm looking for an option that will cause the least amount of damage to the floors if the next home owner wants to refinish them, and laminate seems to be the way to go. The other concern is how long a refinish would hold up before needing repeated. I've had other hard wood floors that held up great, but these have gone from slightly worn to extremely worn and splintering in 4 years, and we are not hard on things. Not sure if that's typical of heart pine or if there was a problem with the finish....See Moreloriann246
