Steve, Please forgive the few hiccups that are bound to happen with changing of the gaurd. The guy we usually depend on to take photos had his sons wedding to deal with this past Spring. Rebecca, has always done a wonderful job with the websight and has done such at her own cost. Jeff has been the director for the past few years and always had it together. These are all wonderful, dependable, giving people. Now you have me as a director, for the time being anyway. So I take the blame for any info that has not flowed as quickly as it should. Our next swap will be Oct 17 and will be posted as such. If you have any pictures you would like to see added to the volunteer websight please send them to Rebecca. If you would prefer a more non technical approach then I could always use a hand setting up food tables, pouring drinks, prepping the food, tearing down and loading tables, or picking up trash. We are more than three months away from the Fall swap. As it more closely approaches I will line up volunteers for the less technical stuff. I like the fact that old threads drop off, although I'm not sure that one year or a maximum post count are the best ways to do it. Real old threads often contain dated material that no longer accurately reflects current conditions. And then there are the bozos that just have to reply to something posted years ago resurrecting yet another dead thread. This happens all to often on the other boards. I don't personally care for vBulletin bulletin boards. I much prefer phpbb. There are a couple of things I think really need attention in the GW board software. The search function plain sucks, and we should be able to edit and/or delete our posts for at least a few hours. By the way, this isn't a free service. It is advertiser supported. There is a big difference between that particular business model and free.

I am starting to read some of the fine print. The Flickr limit of only 200 photos available for viewing at a time - and only being able to upload a certain number per month - are dealbreakers for me. When I finally get around to organizing my photos so I can share them with family and friends - I don't want to have to only upload a small number of them per month - I want to do them all. I imagine that after the initial batch, there won't be as many - until I digitize my slides - then I'll have another batch, etc. I know folks like Flickr - but those 2 limitations are big ones for me. I finally found the full list of services that can be used with framechannel - it does also include smugmug - and picasa, photobucket, webshots, flickr, facebook. Only photobucket and picasa will work on my Tivo. If there were a way to access my photos from my computer to my Tivo (and there must be) - then I wouldn't have to worry about using a hosting service to view photos on the tv - and I could just use the service above the most meets my needs. Anyone know if I can get my computer's photos to show up on my Tivo (I know this is getting far afield of the topic). I think using multiple hosting services will be a hassle for me - so as good as imageshack sounds, if it doesn't work with framechannel, it might not be best for me. before I rule it out, Raven, can you tell me what the firefox extensions for imageshack allow you to do that's so handy? I would like easy of uploading, no limits on how much to upload or store (although I don't imagine storing tons - I do think it would be more than 200 pictures - and periods of more heavy uploading than others), good organization. I guess so far it's between photobucket, picasa and smugmug. Further pointers and considerations are still appreciated. Lynn.
