I'm going to have to second the VideoHelp.com site. DVD's are just like CD's. Only they hold a lot more data. Both can be used as data storage disks. Both can be used as video disks. CD's can be used as music disks. There may be a DVD music disk but since I don't listen to music I wouldn't know about it. Disks that will be used in a DVD player need to be compatable with the DVD player. Some players support more formats than others. At the very least you will need some kind of authoring software. This is the software that will create the menues and chapters And some software will do it automatically. It all depends on how complicated or easy you want to make it. This thread brings up a problem which I have ran into, so please forgive me if it looks like I am hi-jacking this thread, as that is not my intent. I bought a dvd/vhs recorder/player around Thanksgiving and used it to transfer home vhs video tapes to dvd+rw discs. The discs will play on my pc using various video programs. All went well until I tried to transfer the disc contents to my pc hard drive so that I could edit them. My pc has a 2 gig processor, 512 megs of ram, Win xp home with sp2 and a 160 gig HD with plenty of unused space. I downloaded a program called dvd shrink 3.2 hoping it would allow me to transfer the disc to HD. It was a no go as I keep getting various error messages. Does anyone know how to transfer files from a dvd disc to a pc hard drive? I'm baffled. Thanks in sdvance for any help.

You might still be able to find a combo DVD Recorder/VCR online, though they're getting hard to find in the stores as it's not a popular item. I have a JVC DRMV150 and it will dub a tape to a disc. The quality is adequate. This would be a good choice if you're willing to put the disc in and let it play, but not so good if you need to FF and REW a lot...this machine doesn't work that way. If you want to record live tv, make sure you buy one with a tuner as not all of them do. The other choice would be to pay a professional to do it. You could choose to have the scenes recorded in any order you desire and have them split up into multiple menu entries if you want to watch some but not all of them.
