Liebherr FD Door Fix Works!

Ok. So this is really great news for owners of the first generation of Liebherr 2062s who have been having trouble with the self-closing door feature. I'm happy to tell you that problem has been fixed! At least on mine it is. That's because the service guy came yesterday and installed newly-engineered doors on my fridge. And, they work like a charm! In fact, they work so good that I now have to retrain myself to just let the doors close on their own without my helping to push them shut or responding to the alarm, etc. If I thought I was in love with my Liebherr before, it's a total swoon now. :-)

I recall it being just a regular 3-prong plug that goes into the wall. So I think about 1-1.5" for the plug sticking out. Even if you didn't have that much side clearance, I think there are recessed wall outlets you could use in place of your current flush outlet - common for home theater behind wall-mounted TV. I'm in the same boat, except with the JA version of the same fridge (I like the JA handles better). Even shaving off a couple of inches would be a plus for me. Plus I truly wanted the integrated (paneled) look. But I've been to three showrooms to see the Liebherr, and the doors have been really awful in the closing/opening... they rub together and pull on each other. Some have taken a shove to close. Not what I want to pay 6K for plus the panels/handles. I've emailed the American company that does customer service for Liebherr... last Thursday... for where I could see a new one with "fixed" doors. Haven't heard back yet. It seems like people are happy with this fridge once they have their doors fixed. But I wouldn't want to spring for it unless I see one that is a pleasure to use. We really love that it makes real ice cubes, not crescent ice! A family pet peeve worth some $$ to eliminate.

We have the Liebherr CS2062 (Freestanding) and bought it in Canada for $4800 Canadian so I think it's in your budget. We love it & have been using x 3 months. This has the manual closing doors (as opposed to the integrated one) which I don't mind. The ice maker is awesome. The space is amazing - nothing wasted as it is so well laid-out. I wouldn't trade it for anything. I love it AND it looks great (it looks totally integrated and people are shocked when they find out it's not)

davdad There was a post here about sombody that had a Dacor Fridge, and alto it may have been a good fridge, they couldnt find anybody to fix it. So that would be step one, is knowledgible service (with parts) available, close to you? Gary

Yes I can confirm with marthavila, the new door fix works. However, I too cannot get rid of the habit I have of either keeping my hand on the doors all the way to close, or 'matching both doors at 60 degrees to ensure they close. ...No more door alarm!!! yeah!

Glad to hear it! Were your doors the stainless or with cabinet panels? Mine are the stainless panels, and Liebherr has called to say that they've fixed those too and they will be calling back this month or so to make an appointment. Anyone have the stainless panel doors fixed?

Good for you! I assume you had to remove your cabinetry panels from the old doors and reapply onto the new ones. Was there any problem with that? I have been so frustrated with the inoperable icemaker in mine (still waiting on parts!) that I haven't focused on the door problem (can only be frustrated with one thing at a time). I decided not to affix the panels to the doors until I knew for sure the whole thing wasn't going to have to be replaced, so I've been carefully opening it from the bottom frame since it was installed.... going on five months now!

I have considered just getting used to the fact that the doors will always need an extra nudge to get them shut completely. I actually say "thank you" to the alarm when it reminds me I haven't done so! But now that you are telling us the new doors really, really work, maybe I'll start complaining about the ones I have. I really want to love this refrigerator!

Question about your french doors... Do you have to open both at the same time to prevent the rubber seals around the doors from peeling off?

We had our Liebherr (fully integrated, french door) installed in August. Immediately the seals around the doors started peeling off. Got so bad the wiring was sticking out. Liebherr said we have the model with the new doors so just need the seals replaced. They were replaced on Friday.

The repair man said we have to make sure we open both doors at the same time or that will happen again and it's standard with any french door model of any brand.

Wanted to check if you have all experienced the same thing.
