Built-In Refrigerator Advice - Viking (?)
Comments (3)the hinge issue has been solved but all others remain. there are people out there that have no trouble at all with their units as well as some that never can get em fixed and just junk them. It boils down to this: are you a gambler? your odds are pretty good that you'll have more problems with a viking built in than with other brands. If you value looks and the features they have over the possibility you might go nuts over spending $$6-7k on a fridge that needs constant repair attention after being told it could very well be a problem - then roll the dice. If you want a better chance of trouble free service then look at Thermador/Gaggenau/Miele "freedom" platform or Sub Zero for a built in over under. Their newer models have a lot of creature comforts too. The Viking design in addition to having questionable reliability is also a design from last century. The other brands I recd. all have new designs and technology from just a few years ago when they came off the drawing board....See More12 Year old Viking Refrigerator - freezer needs $1,000 to repair
Comments (16)Terry Flynn-did you have to move the electrical and water lines when switching over from the Viking to the Samsung? I have replaced the fan in my Viking (circa 2006, but not plugged in until 2010) and the freezer still too warm but now the alarm goes off every 15 to 24 hours. I can’t get a good estimate or diagnosis of the problem other than “maybe a slow leak” and “it will cost thousands to replace.” Living where I do, I am at the mercy of one repair company. Getting up at 3 am to turn an alarm off is getting old. Had planned to let it just operate to it’s death, but it would be nice to know if it could be repaired and last awhile longer. Otherwise looking at a counter depth Bosch with some rework of the cabinetry and as I said, electrical and plumbing. That alone will be close to $5000 and if I could repair this one with some guarantees…..oy...See MoreRefrigerator leaking
Comments (0)I have a Kitchenaid model ksc24c8eyy02, side-by-side a little less than six years old. Water pooling under crisper drawers found to be caused by a rusty galvanized steel drip pan (part number W10317862). The drip pan rusted so bad the rust bits clogged the drain pipe that drains condensate from the lower evaporator to the underside of the fridge. This was fixed by making a homemade drip pan from aluminum and cleaning out the drain. Also, found out you need to look at parts diagrams from the Sears site. The drip pan was not shown on at least one other site that I spent a lot of time on. Video...See MoreMu HVAC is leaking condensation inside. The drain pan is dry as a bone
