Need help again w/ MP-3 Player...........

Hi,

I've been getting along very well with my birthday present from my husband, until just recently.

I've been downloading sermons from my church's site to a folder on my desktop, aptly named, 'Sermons'.

Before I download them I rename each one by date, followed by Jody, (that's our pastor's name).

However, when I try to load them onto my MP-3 play none of the names I've given each sermon comes up.

I get thinks like, 'Track 01' (but I have about 5 listings for 'Track 01) and it goes on from there with a variety of different names.

I can't figure out why the name changes from the 'Sermon' file on my desk top to the screen when I load the sermons to it.........

Can anyone help me, I've given myself such a headache trying to figure this out.

Be kind and gentle, I'm in a bad emotional state at the moment!!!!!!!!!!

What MP3 player are you using? What software are you using to load the MP3s into the player?

bp, thank you so much for your offer to help.

You are not going to believe this but I got it to work. I just kept working at it, clicking here and clicking there until it worked.

This may not be an accomplishment to those of the computer generation but I'm of the older age group (TV didn't even come along until I was about 9ys old) so this has been an experience for me.

Just in case you want to know (although this may not have been the way to go about it) I opened my 'Sermon' file on the desk top and right clicked on the last one I'd downloaded, I went down to 'Properties', clicked and then clicked on the second tab, 'Summary' and renamed it in the top line, clicked ÂapplyÂ. Then tested it, by moving it to the MP-3 screen and from there to the player.............
Does that make any sense to you, or did I go about it the long way?

My player is a Samsung 2GB YP-U3. I don't know what software we have, I'd just click on the 'download' button on the site my church has posted. Here is a link that could probably tell you more than I've just rambled on about. http://www.livethecall.org/blog/

I used Roxio. I didn't want to pay their price for it but found it to be easy to use it did a great job. It would be a little harder, but the free program Audacity could be used to record music from any source that is played through your computer. After recording it with Audacity and exporting it as a .wav or MP3 file you could burn it to CD using Windows Media Player or other CD burning software. sanantoniorose, you could use audacity to record music from Utube as you play it, but I don't recommend doing so with copyrighted music.

I went looking for this type thing a number of months ago, and did some research just as you did. After some discussion with folks who owned Zune's, I went ahead and forked out the cash for the original - an iPod Classic. It's less expensive than the iPod Touch that has all the features (that I'd never use). The 80gig model runs about $250 all over the place - Circuit City, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and the military exchange system. So far I'm finding it fairly easy to use - mostly because I bookmarked the manual, online, and then printed the pages I needed the most! I haven't tried downloading any music from iTunes yet, but I've transferred more than 40 CD's onto it already. It looks pretty easy to do if you can read and follow written directions. BTW - get the iPod locally, but then go to eBay for some of the accessories you'll want for it. It only comes with a USB cord and a set of earphones. You'll want the electric charger, you may want a car charger, and depending on your use, you may also want a 1/4" patch cord to plug it into the Audio jack of your stereo system. Glad you were able to solve it on your own. I probably would have eventually gotten to the point to recommend what you did.

You should look into whether there is a podcast for the sermons. Podcasts allow you to automate downloading to your player.

There is a podcast download service, I think it's set up with Itunes.
But when I talked to our music minister about it he said that MP-3 players can't download anything that's designed for a podcast.
I got the feeling they were two different players.
