Two windows open at once

I don't remember this. I am looking at real estate and would like to keep google map open on the same screen as the listing.

Win xp, Firefox.

Thanks,

Jane

Jane you can open 2 instances of Firefox and re-size each to show side by side if that is what you mean. Or of course you can have 2 tabs open in the same instance of FF and quickly tab from one to the other.

With the tab method you can have multiple tabs open, I have 4 showing right now.

Heck, I've got 6 windows open using FF and one of them has several tabs open, too.

I saw somewhere here a photo of tiles that had been painted white. I went to HD and asked about products to do this, and I think this is the way I want to go. We will keep the tiles. In addition, we decided to get rid of the old vanity and replace it with a Mill's Pride white thermofoil base cabinet (60" - kitchen unit). The contractor has opened up the recess for the cabinet by a small amount and now thinks he can do the installation without damaging any tiles. I think, overall, this is the best solution. I don't know if this URL will work: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bicibell/album?.dir=d862&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.done=http%3a//pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/bicibell/my_photos Or you can try this link: Here is a link that might be useful: Main Bath Renovation (in progress)

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back - Now I can't open AOL

Lynn, Are you using 'Windows XP', 'Vista', or some other operating system? You mentioned 'Superantispyware' removing "several spywares". Have you also run a full scan with your 'anti-virus' program? If not, update and run a full scan. Something else I overlooked when I read your initial post, I see you're using AOL 9.1. I'm still using AOL 9.0 SE, so there may be some changes to the way things are done in 9.1 as far as repairing the software. I'm not even sure they have the same features in 9.1 so let's forget about 'rebuilding the AOL adapter' for now. Someone else using that version of AOL will have to jump in here. If you have the 'AOL' icon down in the system tray (by the clock) you can right click that and see what options there are. System Restore is painless and if you don't get the results you want you just 'undo' the restore. If you had any kind of virus or spyware infection and you restore to a time when your machine was infected, yes, it will restore those infections, but you can always run your anti-virus and anti-spyware applications again to remove them. I can't say for certain whether or not 'system restore' will affect your bookmarks but it is always a good idea to back up anything on your computer that you cannot afford to lose or want the hastle of having to replace. There can never be enough said about the importance of backing up important data! I use Acronis True Image which makes an image of the complete hard drive, sector by sector, that will restore everything including operating system, programs, documents, pictures, data, etc. to the 'T'. This is on a second drive in my PC in case my primary drive should fail. I also have an external hard drive where I back up 'My Documents'. "I also ran ccleaner right after the updates (I thought at first that that was the problem) - should I rerun that as well?" No, running CCleaner again is not going to fix the problem, nor do I see where CCleaner would have created your problem, unless by chance, if you also used the 'Registry' feature in CCleaner, it may have removed something. Anytime you use any kind of registry cleaner it should have the option of making a backup in case things go wrong, which is exactly why most cleaners, some don't, have the backup option. Either that or create a 'system restore' point before you use it. Using a 'registry cleaner' is a hot topic. Some swear by them, others swear at them! I personally have use Macecraft 'Reg Supreme' for years with no ill effects. "There may have been an easier way to do this, but I just copied and pasted all the bookmarks I made_____". There is: Internet Explorer has an 'import/export' feature for transferring or backing up your cookies and favorites. Click on 'File' in the Menu bar at the top of the IE browser, select 'Import/Export', and follow the Wizard. You can save them to a file on your computer for retrieval later if you should need to do so using the same wizard. I made a folder called 'Backups' in the 'My Documents' folder where I store a copy of my 'cookies' and 'favorites'. In Firefox, I'm still using version 2.0.0.16, if you go to 'Bookmarks' in the Menu bar and select 'Organize bookmarks' and click on 'File', you'll find an 'Import' and 'Export' wizard. Drink some 'brave' juice and try the system restore first to see if that works. Witz

Habitat Restore is a store that tells new and used items and the money benefits Habitat for Humanity. Sometimes contractors will donate good cabinets and other items that they pulled out of a house. Sometimes stores donate items like when a custom order gets cancelled or a some style gets discontinued or they just have a surplus of an item. Great job! Love your choices. Perfect examples of kitchens that will look a lot more expensive than they were.

How long will these foods keep - once opened or cooked?
Q

- home made Asian peanut sauce**I would probably freeze it, but I don't see why it wouldn't keep for a week or so. - canned coconut milk **coconut milk freezes quite well, but again, I'd say a week or so. - canned chipotles in adobe sauce **it's pretty easy to tell when they go bad, 'cause mold grows on them (don't ask me how I know this) but as compumom said, it's just as easy to freeze them. - bread and butter pickles - once the bottle's been opened - chicken broth **I should think a week or so, you can extend that by taking it out and boiling it every 3 days or so, but again, it freezes quite well. - canned anchovies **unless they get mold on them or something, almost indefinitely if they're the type packed in salt. - canned tomato paste **it will separate/grow mold/smell sour if it's bad, it's easy to tell...but again, freeze! - jarred roasted red peppers**mold will tell you if it's bad, otherwise maybe a couple of weeks. - frozen chicken breasts once thawed in the fridge -**this depends on the "sell by" date when you put them into the freezer. Generally, however many days were left to the sell by date is the number of days you have left once you thaw them. So, if you froze them on Friday, and the sell by date was the following Monday, you should have 3 days, assuming you used proper sanitation and thawing methods. If you thawed them on the counter instead of in the fridge, the time decreases. - cooked chicken breasts**4 or 5 days, I guess...they won't be very palatable after that whether they spoil or not. - fresh salsa of tomato, cilantro, lime juice**It will lose the fresh flavor fairly quickly, maybe a day or two, but won't really go bad for a few more days. It will smell sour when it's bad. - yogurt sauce with lime juice, honey**That should stay good for at least 4 or 5 days, maybe longer. The yogurt will separate and get watery looking when it starts to go. - fresh chimchurri sauce **You'll lose the fresh flavor well before it spoils...I'd freeze it. - home made gazpacho**oh, 5 days to a week or so. You probably won't want to eat it before it actually spoils as it will start to sour. - home made tomato soup **"Cream Of"-3 or 4 days, no cream, about a week...for either, it freezes well. - opened canned black beans**I can't say that I've ever had canned beans left over from anything, so I've never tried. But I'd imagine they'd be o.k. for a week or so. All of this assumes, naturally, that the food is taken out of the can and put into very clean, sealed containers. There are very few foods, if properly handled and refrigerated, that you won't be able to tell if they spoil by smell, sight or a small taste. And, unless you have a problem with your immune system, even if you do eat something that is slightly spoiled, you should be able to handle it. Most of the time, if someone gets food poisoning it's because food wasn't properly handled or stored, not because properly handled and stored food went bad.

Thanks. What I want to do is have windows stay open. I've been using tabs but each time I use one tab, it closes the other. I want the map to stay open as I read the listing. I don't want to keep flipping back and forth between tabs.

The property listings include a small Google map, but I need to see a larger area to get a better orientation.

I remember I could keep multiple windows open and use each window without affecting the other. Can't remember how to do that. Maybe opening two FF windows is the way I did it.

Thanks,
Jane

you could set it to tile the screens or just hit the minimze button and size it to fit half the screen and do the same to the other one and let them share the screen space.

It is best to try not to have more than one window open in the browser but to instead use the tabs which lets you have pretty much as many tabs open as you want or need. When you open multiple windows you are actually opening a full new instance of firefox which means you are running 2(or more) programs which uses much more resources. So the times that you are just browsing and do not need more that one open just stick to opening tabs not windows. Having 6 windows open means you are running 6 full firefox programs that is a lot, much better on the pc to just open one and use all the tabs you need.

Go into FF's "Tools"/"Options"; click "Tabs" and uncheck "Open new windows in a new tab instead" if it's checked. Open your first window and re-size it to half the screen; position it on either side. Open your second window and re-size and position it to the other half of the screen.

You could give the add-on Split Panel 1.00 a try. Right click on the screen and select a "split" option from the appearing drop down menu. Both windows are active.

How do I do that? How do I resize the screen. I unchecked 'open in new tab' but where do I resize? I know how to use tabs, use them all the time. But I want both screens to show at the same time.

DA, where is this menu? I right click on the screen and don't have that option.

Thanks,
Jane

In the far upper right hand corner there are 3 symbols: a "dash," something that looks like a "square," and an "X." Click on the middle one, the "square." Then slide your cursor carefully over either "edge" on the left or right side of the window. If you do this slowly, you will see the cursor change to a double-headed arrow. When you see that, hold down the left mouse button and drag the edge to wherever you want to make the window smaller. When it is the size you want, let go of the mouse button.

Does that work for you?

Jane,

Did you install the add-on before right-clicking?

No, I didn't realize it was an add on. I'll go look for it. I opened two windows and shrunk them to fit the screen.

You may really like it for your purpose Jane.

What version of FF are you using? There may be another add-on that's even better If you are using pre-vFF 4.0
