Adding to DA's comment -- I too found the Arcsoft site which used/uses .phb files that may be album files. Here's a quote from Arcsoft: PHB files are proprietary album files used by some of our programs, namely PhotoBase. Albums do not store your images. They serve as links to files stored on your computer or removable drive. If you delete the original file, the thumbnail in the album basically becomes a dead link. For example, if you have files on a floppy disk and create an album, you'll always need to have that floppy in the drive whenever you want to view the full images. Likewise, if you have a digital camera that is read as a removable drive, you would need to have it connected if you create the album directly from the camera. The best thing to do is copy all of your images into a folder on your computer, *then* create the album referencing those files. Albums are useful because they let you preview and organize files on your system in a convenient fashion. It is also from albums that slide shows are made with some of our programs." They still offer ($) software that may be able to translate your pics to jpeg or they have some free help. Some of their software can be downloaded for trials which might enable copying to jpeg. One of the many new innovations included in Windows 7 is a much improved system of home networking called HomeGroup. As well as offering easier and more diverse allocation of permissions to shared content, access is protected by a password which, for small business networks, is a necessity. As soon as Windows 7 is installed, it creates a default HomeGroup. If it detects an existing HomeGroup, you will be given the opportunity to join, but you will need the password. For home and small business users, HomeGroup is an excellent tool, but there is a problem. HomeGroup only works when all other machines on the network have Windows 7 installed, which in the short term, may not be the case. There will be many situations where the network has XP or Vista machines as part of the network, in addition to Windows 7. So, how is it possible to get them all to work together? Does the tute mention if you write it to dvd you can have a file 4gb but if you write it to cd in needs to be 650 mb. You size large zips to fit the media or to make it a comfortable sized file to upload or download. Plus sometimes email rules come into effect. I split a windows 8.1.1 DVD up into 8 chunks to upload a copy. Server upload size rules. If you're working with a large already zipped file.. you should unpack it before zipping it into chunks. Owbist: I asked because I think I should know how to create a zip file. When I was troubleshooting issues on the my laptop and my daughters, it seems that folks helping me asked for zip files of various logs. So this xmarks situation isn't the first time I've been asked for a zip file. Best to know how to do it. Zep - you jogged my memory to remember that previously I was able to right click and send to zip file because in both cases I was on a Windows 7 computer. Now I know how to do it for XP. Doable, but certainly not as simple and elegant as Windows 7. Thanks everyone. Lynn.
