Can't say I've seen it, and I always read what MS wants me to install..but I could have just forgotten.

A couple of observations:
1) The subject doesn't look right to me, not very MS-like
2) What, you don't already have Adobe Reader?

jane I would hold off on that update, seeing problems showing up after people have done that one. Just wait a little while maybe especially if you are not having the problems that it is supposed to fix.

I tried to update 12 important things. They were very slow loading, I hid the IE version 8 and went back in to see if it would come up again and all 12 updates came up again. I think I am going to hate this computer. That's a first for me, I think it is all due to the 64 bit.

I found the info on it. Apparently has to do with wireless mice and screensavers. I use wireless mice on my machines, but no screensavers. I'll hold off as I've had no problems.

Stargazzer, seems you aren't alone. A few friends bought 64-bit and have had trouble from the beginning. I'm sure they will eventually work out the kinks.

I am worried if we don't have a choice now?
I want to stick with 32-bit (program compatibility) but the ones I look at to buy, all say they are 64-bit!

I know when I was shopping for a computer in Jan. the best prices and biggest hard drives were for 64 bit. It seemed you got more for your money going 64-bit. After checking, I found out that the software I use for work would not work with 64 bit systems. I needed my computers to work well together and didn't want to chance mixing 32 bit with 64. I later learned from a couple of people who bought 64 and couldn't get some of their software to work and continued using their old computers for certain things.

At first it was blamed on Vista, but later determined it had to do with 64 bit. My guess is that people who are good with computers can work through these problems and get their machines to run smoothly, but for the average computer person, it is too difficult. I guess it is the wave of the future, but I don't think the software people are spending a lot of time on it. Also, there are some hardware issues with printers and scanners.

You need to check carefully before updating. Personally, I don't want computers which give me a hassle. I bought two new machines last year with XP. I want machines to 'just work.'

I called HP and they told me to take it back for an exchange and Best Buy said they would exchange it for me. The salesman at BB told me that in a year all computers will have this and he suggested I tough it out. He also said the 64 bit PC versus the 32 bit PC would be downgrade. I called HP to check on this and they agreed. The HP tech also told me that Microsoft knows about this problem and they are working on it. They will also have an update when the time comes. I asked how I would get it if I could not update the MS update software, she said it would be emailed if that problem was not solved. I still use firefox, just can't use it for all sites.
