Try turning the router / modem off, unplug it for a bit then replug it back in and try your connection.

We did that and it still doesn't work.

Since you don't mention what your Operating System is, it's a little hard to give precise instructions. However, try this.

On the computer that's not connected, go to: Start / Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center. See if you can get it to connect there. Then report back.

Hi, Try connection in Safe Mode with / networking.

1. Restart your computer if it is powered on.
2. Keep Tapping the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.
3. Once you see the Advanced Boot Options menu you can stop tapping.
4. Use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
5. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.
6. You should see drivers loading, and then Please wait.
7. You should then be at the Welcome Screen.
8. Logon to your computer using an account with Administrator privileges.

9 Try connecting to google.com. See if you can make a connection, do not surf the internet in Safe Mode with networking just try connecting to Google and let us know if you can connect that way.

If that fails do a system restore to a few days back.

You can also try this set of instructions,

Windows 7 and Vista

From the Start menu, select Control Panel, or Settings and then Control Panel.Double-click Network and Sharing Center.

From the list of tasks on the left, click Change adapter settings (in Windows 7), or Manage network connections (in Vista).

For a wired network connection, right-click Local Area Connection, and then select Properties.

For a wireless network connection, right-click Wireless Network Connection, and then select Properties.

From the Networking tab, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), make sure it is checked, and then click Properties.

Click Obtain an IP Address Automatically, and then click OK.

Well, not sure how this happened, but DH unhooked the router and the desk top internet works, but we have no wireless. If he hooks the router up we have no internet on anything. But before he unhooked the router, we had wireless internet. We recently had a storm and a lightning strike took out our doorbell and garage door opener. Do you think it took the router too?

Try plugging into a different port on the router. We lost a port on ours during a storm also.

This is so weird. When we change to different ports, we can either have desktop or wireless, but not both.

I'm not sure whether you have other problems too but it does sound like the router is acting erratically.

I'd try buying a new wireless router (from a seller that will allow a no-fee return should you decide you don't need it) and see if that solves the problem.

Well, we ended up buying a new router and everything works fine. I guess this was just another casualty from the storm we had. Thanks everyone for the help!
