photoshop elements 7.0

If I am just way out of line in asking this question on this forum I apologize but I know that most of you know just about every aspect of your computers including the photo programs. If I shouldn't be asking here maybe you could tell me a site I could go to get the help I need.

can anyone tell me how to recover the left handed "tools" icons in the full edit portion of the editor section? I have used the editor program many many times and I have no idea how or why the icons disappeared, they just did. I have searched every where i can possibly think of, including the help sections.

As always, I appreciate your input and help.

I cannot answer that question but I can suggest you have no need to apologise for posting. Anything remotely connected with computer should be posted if a person needs to know. If you fail to ask you may never know, whereas there may well be someone here who has lived through the very problem you are experiencing.

Plus we have lurkers who are content to read other peoples thread as a way if understanding their own computer better.

I don't use Photoshop, but in Paint Shop Pro, I got to "view/toolbars/tools" to toggle it off and on.

Do you still have the manual for the scanner? I assume this is a stand alone flat bed scanner? Might pay to remove the scanner program then re-install but check the manual to see if it is like the printers where you should not connect it to the computer until the program prompts you. Possibly a corrupt file there somewhere.

Pam, You can try going to your system partition, drive 'C:', and look in 'Program Files'. Open the 'Adobe' folder, there should be one, and see if there is a folder for 'Photoshop Elements'. If so open that and hover your pointer over the '.exe' file(s), don't click to execute the file. When you hover the pointer over the file(s) you should get a small pop-up window with the file information in it such as 'Description', 'Company', 'File version', 'Size', etc. Hope that helps you out. Well if you had success with Malwarebytes perhaps it is not necessary to run Superantispyware. If you would care to try then as you start the computer keep tapping the F8 button and a screen will appear with start up options. Select safe mode, everything will look totally different to the normal startup because only essential drivers have been allowed to start. My concern was the fact you mentioned AVG was not running properly. That is a good indicator of trouble. On reading the initial post a second time it appears you overcame that issue

I'm not a pro but once I had been using adobe Photoshop cs6 and had to temporarily use elements I found photo tampering no longer fun. IÃ¢ÂÂm not saying Elements is a bad program; Elements is a great program. But CS6 is an awe inspiring program with endless capabilities! Yup the catch is itÃ¢ÂÂs also $800+ Most of us incl. myself can't afford. The good news is they have what is called the student / teacher edition thatÃ¢ÂÂs identical in every way but the price tag. So if you (or family member) are currently enrolled or employed (not just teachers) at any university just follow my link or give them a call they are very nice. Well once again I have gotten a solution for a problem by posting on the computer forum.

First, thanks Owbist, what you said is so true. I can attest to your comments about lurkers learning a lot just from reading the postings here and understanding more about their own computers. I have been one of those lurkers for several years now. I have learned an incredible amount about my computer but probably just as important I have gained confidence in tackling problems. So thanks to all who participate here.

Jean....you led me to a the spot where I found the solution to my problem. While your "view/toolbars/tools" didn't work for me, I kept looking and when I looked again in "window" there was a line that said "reset palette location". I clicked on that and like magic the toolbar reappeared and once again all is right in my little computer corner. So thanks for getting me in the right area.
