GE coil stove too hot

HI all,

I swore I'd never get another GE electric range, but after looking alot, I couldn't find one that had the features that I wanted (large coil in front on right), so I went with another GE range. Actually, its built much better than the one I bought 18 years ago and had so much trouble with.

But I'm realizing that the power to the electric coils is just too high. It has 1-10 for power. I can never use 10, except for a really quick water warm up. It boils things fairly intensely on "7". But it also boils on "1"!! I have to turn it to inbetween off and 1 to not get a boil.

Isn't this rather strange?? Thanks.
