Thanks for the heads up -- literally. If I have my usual sleepless night I will stumble out and have a look. Unfortunately I can't avoid the light pollution of the city.

I remember a number of years ago when there was a large comet in the sky for several nights. I was totally fascinated with it. I think it was Hale Bopp. What a sight.

I'm afraid that our overcast sky stayed for as long as I could keep watching it. So I didn't have a chance to see anything.

Many other years though at this time I've been at just the right place ....on Vancouver Island at my brother's lakeside home with family members. He'd take us in his boat out to the middle of the lake and we'd turn off the motor and sit
in the inky blackness and watch the sky which by comparison was a brilliant carpet of stars. That was a wonderful experience despite the active mosquito attacks which finally drove us back to shore.
