Gaggenau 27''double oven

I have gotten great advice from this forum and purchased a 27" double Gaggenau oven. Bought it from a very reputable appliance store that had the discontinued model who sold it on ebay. Installation went great and it works great. When my installer finished putting it in, he said there was a missing trim piece that goes at the bottom of the oven to trim out. I have called the store and the guy tells me I need the part number. I cannot seem to locate any information either from the website or all the manuals that came with the oven. It is the 294-600 model. Any advice where I can find the piece number?

Call Gaggenau (BSH) and ask them for the part # , you can even order it from them.

It is on their website too.

Thanks Antss! Can I bother you some more since you are feeling generous? I called Gagganeau yesterday and they are not very helpful since this is an older oven. They too sent me the diagram but my question is does it look like there are two pieces of trim called labeled 218816? The oven is already installed and I am looking at the diagram and thinking it was supposed to be attached before the oven was put in. One of the trim pieces is attached but there not two. Installer thought something was missing.

I have been searching for a 30" double oven since Christmas. I have read reviews about every oven out there, including many reviews from this forum. Originally, I was drawn to the Thermador Pro Series, mainly because it was the look I wanted and had all the features I was looking for. However, the negative reviews were too many to ignore. After visiting a local showroom with many high end appliances, I found I was also drawn to the new Jenn-Air double ovens, but determined there wasn't enough information out there and no reviews ... too new. I had read about the Gaggenau's and Miele's on this site (as well as many others), but had almost ruled them out as cost prohibitive. After several weeks of dedicated research, I couldn't resist the great reviews and the obvious quality of the Gaggenau ovens, especially after seeing one in a showroom. By ordering online, I saved more than $2,000. I ordered a new refrigerator from the same online company about five years ago and we were very pleased. Everything as ordered, full warranties, etc. For anyone considering buying online, I hope this information is valuable. I should have my new ovens in approximately three weeks and I can't wait to let everyone know how they are working! The Gaggenau double ovens are a little over 56" long (exterior measurement), longer than most we looked at (at around 51"), so we will need to have some cabinet revisions made prior to installation. WOlf doesn't make a 27" oven. Thermador has one model , but their oven quality control is shaky. Too many people with problems recently to warrant their price. Gaggenau only has a 30" double oven. Their 27" has been discontinued for 10yrs? now so finding a new one lying around will be a snipe hunt. Viking and Dacor have too much internal trouble to be focused on making quality appliances on a consistent basis, Whirlpool / Frigemore / KitAid are con artists to put it nicely So, at 27" your "good" choices are Electrolux , Bosch and GE Monogram in no particular order.

We have the Bosch 500 series 27 inch double oven and love it. We didn't have the option for 30 inch (didn't want to rip out existing cabinets) so our decision was easy. Personally, I think the 27 inch would be fine but it really depends on what and how you cook/bake with the oven. The double oven will give you more flexibility - if things get crowded in one oven, fire up the other one. Think about what pans, etc you would use. Our very old 27" oven went out last month. Because of the wonderful help on this site, I decided to go with a Gaggenau double oven bought off ebay. Still has 5 year warranty and got a great deal. I have now used it for everyday use of meals as well as many cakes and cookies. I adore it. I almost went with the Kitchen Aid but since I got a great deal upgraded to this oven I had never heard of before I read this site. I hope you have as much luck as I did because I am very happy with my choice.

Maybe you should talk to a long time Gaggenau installer or service tech? If you don't have someone local to you, send me an e-mail and I'll dig up my tech's number for you.

Does it look like something is missing to you? If it's just trim can you get a finish carpenter to fix it?

My mother's Gaggenau oven was a replacement, and was retrofitted into the cabinet It's narrower than the old oven so the installer trimmed it out with some stainless steel. You have to actually look at the trim to notice that it isn't part of the oven.

that was yesterday :^)

looks like it's two parts - sorta.

a metal box like trim piece and a foam or rubber strip that goes on the back edge.

I think there definitely is a piece missing but it might be easier to just have my trim guy make a piece when he comes to finish the drawer. Is the stainless piece needed to vent the oven or will a wood trim piece be okay? I have taken a pic but have no clue how to post it here.

I don't think it gets any easier than calling and ordering. I know that piece is expensive, but you should have gotten a good deal even with the added cost. Whatever your carpenter charges is likely to be at least half of the cost of the orig. part anyway.

Many ovens do vent out of the bottom, I'm not certain about that particular one though.

Hm... Looking at the pictures it does seem that that oven does have a bottom vent. Maybe you do need the parts...
