I love smileys& icons. I deleted one smiley site I had on advice of my ISP, who said this site brought in spyware & other junk. I know there are other sites that apparently are 'safe'. Which are they? Thanks for any help.

Here's a site I 'heard' of from another help site, but I myself would appreciate it if others here could confirm or deny the 'safety' of it before I start using it myself ! :-)

I believe all sites offering free smileys, clipart and those kinds of things will try to send you some form of spyware. After all they are not some charitable institution and have to earn income from somewhere to pay the bills.

Based on that very unscientific notion I always run a scan or two after I have been to those places. It works for me.

If you are in doubt or nervous about surfing recklessly there is a very good program called Site Advisor. It works when you use a search engine like Google and places a marker beside each site found. Green ones mean the site is safe, red ones will indicate the problem they feel makes the site a doubtful place to visit.

Hi Tisha! Most of the oldies moved on when GW changed their policies about posting pictures. If any of you want to know where the "other" forum is send me an email through my GW profile. I don't want to get banned for advertising. I must warn you, the HP forum isn't as busy as this one, but we all do post a lot on the C&S forum there. Maybe with some more oldies from GW there it would pick up, hint, hint, :) :) It seems that there are less beginner questions, and very few arguements about care, which is always nice. on a side note I am checking in from San Diego, where I got to meet Cena for the first time yesterday at the SDES pre-show sale and the SDCSS meeting right next door :)

Princealbert, where are you? I am waiting and wainting. You are on your way to do MY housework right? rofl I am going to pick up little granddaughter in a short while. She will be sleeping in MY room. Since I got rid of HER bed in the room from her dad I am remodeling into a hobby room for me. So I got no idea when I will be able to post the POTD. Would be kind of crewl to her AND me to wake her up so I can post it lol. This will be the 1st time I have to pick her up with umbrellas. Everyday I go out and empty the water standing in some on the flowerpots and trays. Can not wait til tomorrow night when it is suppose to start looking better again. Lucy

I have my linux set up with Noia Extreme icon theme, it is the same one I use for my firefox, has always been my fave. except for the smiley face for my pictures all the rest are the standard desktop icons that come on Mepis Linux. I do not like a lot of icons on the desktop, some of mine have zero icons.

Advice on double wall oven

Like you, tak712, I use my double wall ovens a lot. When I did my kitchen (and chose appliances about 2 years ago), there were many hours of research involved on the ovens. The Electrolux Icons were everything I wanted, and I can say that after using them for a year and a half, I could not be more pleased with them. They come up to temp quickly, hold evenly, and perform every function equally well. The gliding racks are great, extend fully, and reconfigure very easily. They each bake with or without convection, broil with or without convection, proof breads, slow-cook like a crockpot, keep warm like a warming drawer, even work as dehydrators, and self-clean. Each oven will also accept up to three "favorites" multi-stage programs. For example, I can put in a frozen item in the morning, tell the oven to come on at a specific time in the afternoon, bake for X hours/minutes, then turn its on the broiler on to brown the top, and then turn itself into a warming drawer and keep the item ready until I turn it off. Each oven operates independently, and all the racks are moveable, so for dehydrating you can just run one oven with all the racks in it. I don't know if those Icon models are still available, but if so, they are worth considering. I've been very happy with them. (Also put the Miele steam oven in another part of the kitchen, and like it, too, but it's a more specialized appliance, also great but not as versatile as the Electrolux ovens.)

Since you say you just love them you are probably not interested in simple black and white, however, FYI as they say, you can do the & key and the # key and 9786 and a semi colon to get âº

I like using Smiley's in email - they can convey your "emotion" - so I guess that is why they are called emoticons!

What I do is save the "smiley" to a folder on my computer. I have found most of mine at EZBoards (EZ Board is a forum hosting site) Then when I want to add one to an email I just add it like adding a picture.

They are a really small file size, so it does not slow down email for dial up users.

I would NOT recommend using a smiley website, like Smiley Central, etc..

If you want to post them here, you can upload them to Photobucket and go from there.

If you see a smiley that you like somewhere - just right click on it and select "save as" - I keep mine in a folder I named "Smileys"

Hi, iowagirl !

I think David Pye's site (http://www.davidpye.com/index.php) which is behind the link I posted above, does basically for others what you have creatively done for yourself. He has collected loads (over 3 megs) of smileys (and also has over 2 meg of .gif images. And lots of wallpaper.). He makes it available FREE.

I asked at another computer message board regarding Pye's site and only got one response, but the person suggested (after reading Pye's home page and "about me" section) that it seemed okay (no spyware, malware, etc.).

If one does download his "Smiley Vault" (Home Page > My Freeware > scroll down to Smiley Vault) be ready to deal with over 1700 smileys !

He also has lots of .gif images and tons of free wallpaper.

Thanks for tips on "Smileys", everyone.However,doesn't "Site Advisor" (from Mcafee)charge for their help-site? Or even if you contact them through their contact site?

Carol, basic Site Advisor is free, Site Advisor Plus is currently offered at $9.95 but I have no idea what it does extra. I always used the free program.
