John here are my recommendations. Maintain current height for now until it goes dormant for winter rest. Then next spring with you see signs it is starting to turn green, scalp it down to 1 inch and bag all the debris. I will warn you it will look like crap with nothing but stems and twigs. As soon as you see it starting to recover and green up a bit after scalping, apply your first of 3 yearly fertilizer applications. Be sure to water the fertilizer in. Then maintain the lawn at 1-1/2 to 2 inches with a rotary mower with a good sharp blade. Zoysia is a very tough grass and hard on lawn mower blades so keep the blade sharp. Otherwise you will just tear the grass and it will look brown on the tips and spoil the color, not to mention open it up for pest and disease issues. If you use a reel mower maintain at 3/4 to 1-1/2 inches with sharp blades. Lastly fertilize only 3 times per season spaced 8 to 10 weeks apart. DO NOT over fertilize Zoysia. Chris and Bill, I would love to learn grafting, and have actually researched this in the, not to distant, past. The first requirement, I would imagine, is the availability of appropriate root-stock, which I do not have. Another thing that has been on my to do list, is going down to visit Luc at FCN. I would consider the 4 hr. round trip, and approximately $60.00 in diesel, an investment in Plumeria knowledge, rather than an exorbitant price to pay in saving a $30.00 cutting! Unfortunately, I am in a time crunch, as I need to prepare for an eight or nine-day business trip, that begins Sunday. I feel that I should do something today or tomorrow, and hope for the best while I am gone. So I will submerge 2 of the 4 inches in my tried-and-true mix and try my best not to think about it while I am gone. WRF, Yes I did see the thread on water rooting, which I found very interesting, since I was under the impression that this could not be done without rotting the stem. I would consider this method, if it were not for my trip. All the rain we get down here seems too much sometimes. I have some plumeria that grow very fast, with wide leaf spacing and very green stems of great length. With the summer sun almost straight up in the sky, I do not have any area that I can leave my young, potted plants and cuttings, where they will get adequate direct sun, and be protected from the rain. When I am around the house, I move them, sometimes several times a day, when rain threatens. When I am not home, I usually need to leave them in a bright shade spot, where they will, hopefully, stay dry if it rains. Never assume it won't rain down here! This will need to be the case for this cutting while I am out of town. What South Florida city do you live in. Why do you list so many zones? Mahalo, Bob

What steps are you taking to achieve this? Normally I click Start then All programs. Select and right click on the program that needs a desktop icon and in the pop up menu hover over 'Send to...' and a side flyout appears. Click 'Create desktop icon' Done. Then I rename the new desktop icon if it is not exactly what I want.

Steve- Here is what I am going to recommend. To get to any page, you are going to need to open your browser, so I am just suggesting that, each time you have a page you want to get back to, you bookmark it within the browser rather than creating a link that may or may not work on your Desktop. You can create special folders very easily in any browser to keep it organized to your liking. Also, if you want to sort the bookmarks, you can arrange and alphabetize things as you add to the list(s). By having the links in the browser, it will be much faster than returning to your Desktop each time you want to go to a site, and you will be sure you will have a workable link this way. Once you do this, you can get rid of all those disordered icons on the Desktop. Does this make sense? What browser are you using? And do you need any help setting up bookmark folders?
