I tried emailing it to myself as an attachment by using the INSERT ITEM feature and selecting the right file from my contacts list. BUT I seem to recive the file as a rich text WORD file. How can I get it into the right format for contacts?

you may be able to look under your File menu item and see Export address book or group... then you can save it to file and then attachmentize that saved file.

Then it would need to be Imported to add to a group email account.

There are a couple of dirty ways of doing it.

Open your address book, right click on the first address click 'copy'. Paste into your word processor. Repeat for all names. Now you need to clean up the document to your own liking and save.

Or next time you send to everyone include yourself. Use CC, not BCC for the addresses. When you receive your copy open it. Now click on the first name in the CC list to highlight it, hold the 'Shift' button and tap 'End'. You now have the top row highlighted so right click anywhere along that line and click 'Save'. Now you can paste this into a word processor. Repeat till all lines are done. (Going to full screen helps here because you get more names per line) Save the document, sort it out and save again.

The import/export function looks useful for transferring data to a different program such as Outlook Express or a spreadsheet.

I can create a Word file when I receive the attachment I send myself, but want to create a file that I, or someone else, can use as a distribution list.

I found something that seems to work through the MS Office help menu (!!) by searching on "receive distribution list."

Move a distribution list from a message to Contacts
1. Open the message that contains the distribution list.
2. Click the attached distribution list and drag it to the Contacts folder.

Actually dragging seems to work!
