Can't update to new IE

I really don't use IE , but I like to keep it on the desk top for "just in case". When I tried to update to newest one, did the download and then I tried to install it gave me a message that I needed a service pack, yet I am all up todate on my MS updates. so what should I do. I am running a vista 64 machine. Thanks.

run this scan and see if it tells you that you are missing any and which ones.

RC I ran the Secunia scan ..found some java etc that needed updating. But no MS recommendations, so I'm still confused.

I did a search online about this install and found that I needed to have installed a service pack 2, I tried to find those updates on my computer. apparently I also should have service pack 1 ( which my search said I needed in order to install service 2) I could not find that in any of my updates. So now I have more concerns, why weren't these updates provided... and should I do a manual update to svc pack 1 and then svc pack 2 all for I E install?

I meant to reply sooner, but have been away. Pawneepapa, you made it it a success! We just helped a little. I was wowed by the variety I received in the pack. I can't wait to get planting. This certainly helped stave off the winter doldrums. It's good to know the extras will be used and are appreciated. Thanks to all for making my first seed swap experience wonderful. I got my seeds a week or two ago but have been delinquent in my thank you posting. Thanks so much for the incredible collection of seeds! This year's plants are already in the beds thanks to last year's swap, but I cant wait to try all these out next year! Well, I've been watching a lot of Food Network this morning and they seem to be making lots of dishes with garlic. Since it's so close to Halloween I wondered how the whole garlic and vampire thing came into being. Some people believe that the association of garlic warding off vampires has to do with bug or animal bites. One is rabies. You can get rabies from any animal bite from an animal that has rabies. Remember Cujo (Stephen King) getting rabies from the bat? Anyway, I guess if you have rabies you become fixated on certain scents. One of them being garlic. Another theory is that of mosquito bites. Since mosquitos suck blood, they fly and can be warded off be garlic, it's not a difficult jump to vampires (if you have a vivid imagination.) Anyway, here's a little more info! Installed IE7, now can't paste into Word!

I would not stay with IE6 google has just put out info it will no longer support IE6 and many other websites have gone along with them on that it is just too hard for them to continue to support so many versions, go to IE7 or 8 or as mentioned above go with firefox also but you still need to move away from Ie6 on your pc because it is very insecure so even if you do not use it you need to update it. I use firefox only unless I have to do a windows update that is the only time I use IE but I do still keep it updated. Gmail, Google Calendar Also To Drop IE6 Support Google Phasing Out Support For IE6 in 2010 that should be good evidence as to why it needs to be replaced.

I would go to the windows update from your pc there is on the left side a link to your download history it will list any and all of your downloaded vista updates check there to see if you have downloaded and successfully installed the service packs.

also run a Belarc it will tell you exactly what you have on your pc including the service pack info.
