Just to make sure you did all the required steps, I thought I'd list them. If you didn't do even one of the following things, your email won't show up: In the Edit your Personal Information, Page and Preferences page: 1) Near the bottom of the page, there is a pull-down menu for "Show my email address to", that gives you the option of "None" or "Members" or "All". Click on "Members", and make sure "Members" stays in that view box. 2) Where it says "allow other users to send you email via forms at our site", click on that box (a check appears). AND 3) Click on the box that says "Save your Member Profile". Again, if you omitted any ONE of the above steps, your email option will not appear on your page.

you really do not want to turn off that aspect of Vista it is one of the security changes that was made beginning with Vista, we often urge people to run as limited users on all their machines but it just was not happening so they set it up so you have to run that way, unless of course you change it, partly for your safety. In linux everything is done that way. Very little can get past you onto your pc if you leave UAC set as it is. There are some adjustments you can do to it if you insist but I agree why would you. Just don't disable it because that disables some other features also. "There are 9 settings within Windows Vista Local Security Policy that can be configured to modify how UAC works and in what instances the prompt for elevation consent will appear. Rather than just turning UAC off, take a look at the Vista UAC policy settings and try customizing the behavior of UAC to strike a balance between security and usability that you are comfortable with. If you need help understanding what the settings do or what they mean, take a look at User Account Control (UAC) Policy Settings Explained. " UAC (User Account Control) Policy Settings Explained How to change Vista User Account Control (UAC) settings Proceed with caution and remember this was done for a reason.

"When a user account is created, a unique identifier is assigned to it that can never be changed. At the time the account is created, the account subtree name is bound to that ID. When you change the name of an existing account via Control Panel, Users, you map a new name to the same invariant ID. But by now, many applications will have cast their own data paths in stone, using the existing user account subtree name, so that cannot be renamed. So what you see is the new name when looking at the namespace level of abstraction - Control Panel, Users, or the Welcome screen, or other login contexts, and the general desktop UI - but when you drop to the raw file system, you see the old user name embedded in the account's storage path. If you drop down further, you don't see user names at all, only the raw ID that was assigned when the account was made. If you create an account with the same user name, as can happen in XP but may be prudently blocked in Vista, the reverse happens. You have what appears to be the same name, but a different unique ID is spawned, and a new account subtree is spawned that is bound to it. That's why the best way is to reinstall to change the name under C:\Documents and Settings\Username." http://www.vistax64.com/vista-account-administration/40379-change-folder-name-c-users-account_name.html
