A friend is on Hell's Kitchen

My wife got a facebook message from a friend that she's on next season's Hell's Kitchen! Of course she can't let on what the outcome was but she seems pretty excited.

My wife and Melinda were roommates in Philly for many years after college. She's a really fun girl (I guess woman, now) but hard to keep track of because she's the type who just picks up and changes her life on a whim. There are many funny stories about that. Somehow one of these moves resulted in my in-laws now owning her cat.

Anyway I haven't watched the show in several seasons but I'm really looking forward to see how she does. She's picture 8 in the linked series.

How exciting. I've only caught a few episodes and haven't watched it from start to finish. It will be more fun to watch it knowing that a friend of yours is on it. It will be nice to have someone to cheer for.

Neat! Did she/does she work at a restaurant in Philly? I get to cheer for not only a friend of yours, but the local girl too! Go Melinda!

Melinda had those 'bug eyes' and was in outer space as Ramsey said. She deserved to leave. She couldn't cook angel hair pasta? C'mon, give me a break??!!! 5 flippin' minutes in boiling water and drain. How do these folks get picked. Robert is back. Okay, I like the guy. He is funny as hell. But he left for a heart condition and came back not only looking like he GAINED WEIGHT but with a real superiority attitude that was not deserved and will be shot through full of holes before the next episode. I have symathy for heavy people, but the dude is like 500 lbs and had a heart scare and if nothing else it looks like he has gained weight, not lost. Somewhere Richard Simmons is quivering in his shiney shorts@! I'm not just picking on her. Lovely (who the hell names their kid that?) is a loser and will go home soon. This character who wants to fight Ramsey is a psycho and must either have a hidden agenda or the whole thing is staged. I'm not sure what to believe anymore. It's all fun, but it is getting extra hilarious with the contestants. I guess that is what reality T.V. is all about. Duane

Hi Thanks for all the suggestions. cattknap, I love that rug. Lots of great colors from which to choose. For those who suggested apple green, can you give me a BM color which is apple green so that I can get a chip to remind me what apple green looks like. I do have a black horizonal plate rack as well as some black scroll type decorative pieces. I do collect roosters too. Wish me luck. I'll certainly need it. Linda

I too noticed the number of smokers on the show. Seems disproportionately high to me. Plus given how so many shows can't even show smoking I have to wonder about the incentives, if any, that are there. Just seems strange. And they're never standing outside smoking, huddled in a circle by the back door... Seems to me one of them, ("LA" maybe?) actually made a comment on one of the shows this year to the effect that I smoke so that might affect it, but it tasted OK to me.

I guess tonight is the big night on Hell's Kitchen....neither one of those "chefs" impress me very much. I also watch the new episode of Chopped on the cooking channel on Tuesdays.

She started this career by going to culinary school and then becoming a personal chef in the Carribean. (She did IT work of some sort before that.) She recently came back to Philly, apparently got a good job (sous chef?) at some restaurant, but I guess that didn't last long because now she's up in Portland (I think.) Like I said, it's tough to keep track of her. Even with Facebook, LOL.

Series starts July 21. Thanks in advance for cheering her on with us!

As others said, it'll be more fun watching knowing that someone we "know" is on it. Frankly, I have a hard time watching the show, because it's so mean spirited. I prefer some of the other cooking competition shows, but Hell's Kitchen is in the watching a train wreck category, I guess.

An old friend of mine was on Survivor. We were pretty good friends and so were our sons. Then they moved away and I lost track of her. I had seen one or two episodes of the show before I realized it was Kim. It made the show a whole lot more fun to watch. She came in second. She was the runner-up to Ethan.

I love Hell's Kitchen - we always watch it. I dont think we've missed a season yet! I love all Reality Shows anyway but this season of HK will be even more exciting to "know" someone on it!

So, we'll be watching~

Oh my. I have never seen the show, but vowed NOT to ever watch it after seeing the trailers for it and seeing how mean he is to people. I hope your friend does well and isn't too sensitive or he may eat her alive!
