I purchased the 30" dual fuel range 2 years ago and have LOVED it up until 3 days ago when the oven would not shut off. Had to flip the house circuit breaker and it's "brain" still is not well. Had the repair person here today and he had to order a list of parts so there is yet another service call in 2 weeks to get it repaired. The range model is "so new" that they do not carry the parts locally. I still do not regret buying it however I am VERY thankful I bought the extended warranty. HIGHLY recommend doing that to anyone considering buying any range that has electronic parts which is just about everything these days. I will be cooking Christmas dinner tomorrow on the grill...could be worse, could have my old oven that came with the house, big ick. Kidding aside, the range until now has been great and without the big price tag of the high end models I had been looking at (they too have their repair issues, I did my homework). Stovetop is awesome, versatile, and great with the bridge burner for the griddle for Sunday breakfasts. Plug in thermometer probe a huge plus and it is looks marvelous in my kitchen. As for the cleaning, I seldom use the cream and just use Windex and for the outside stainless, the polishing cream they give you works great but so does a silicone furniture polish like Pledge. As I mentioned, I purchased the range 2 yrs ago in October when there was a special promo when Sears had the PRO line debut then opened up a charge account for another 15% off (promotion at the time). I still think it is worth the money and even what they charge now and promise to post another message if there are any further issues after the repair.

hiigl1: I ran across one of these two years ago when I had to go stove shopping and can confirm that Hollysprings is correct in saying that the Kenmore Elite and the Frigidaire are the same stove. (If you find the full model number of the Kenmore, the first three digits tell you that Sears had the stove made by Frigidaire/Electrolux.) I am curious why you want a 36" wide range. Are you maybe replacing an older (vintage) stove that was 36" (or maybe 40") wide? If so, this stove's tiny oven (3.7 cu. ft.) won't be unfamiliar to you and is likely to work significantly better. Maybe you want a slightly wider cooktop than you get with a standard 30" stove, can't fit a separate oven and cooktop, and don't care that the oven is so small? If you were hoping for a pro-style stove, you will be disappointed. Except for the stainless cladding, these are not pro-style stoves. There are other 36" ranges in the sub $2k price range but the makers, Summit and Premier, have a not-so-good reputations here. The word that comes to mind is cheap, in every sense of the term. If you really need a 36" range and don't care about the tiny oven, and aren't looking for multiple high-power burners, either Frigidaire and Kenmore would be okay. If you were looking for a "pro-style" stove, though, the small oven could be a serious drawback and you can get similar (and better) burners and a bigger and better oven in a standard 30" range such as the one that sssiwek describes. Oh, and one other thing. If you can work with a dual fuel range, Costco.com has been carrying 36" "Ancona" brand range since last fall for about $1800 delivered. It seems to be a counter-depth Euro-Style model (akin to Bertazonnis and Veronas and Ikea used to rebrand). You could also look for comments on the Electrolux/Frigidaire Twins since they are all basically the same except for amenities. We have decided on the Electrolux Twins and the salesman (of course) told us that the temperature problems had been worked out and that they hadn't had any issues for about 6 months. I don't need them right away, so I'm patiently (ok, impatiently) waiting on a sale or Electrolux rebate program. I too would like to hear from anyone who actually has recent units (Kenmore,Frig,Electrolux) and can share their experience.

I am one of the posters on the Appliance forum complaining about my Bosch range. My range is loud! I was first sent a range which was very noisy and I suspect was defective. (It was also the wrong model#, but that is another story...). This was replaced by the correct model#, and it is quieter that the first, but I still find it loud. I have had a serviceman out here and he told me that my range is not louder than other Bosch ranges. I just went and turned it on right now to compare it to other appliances... It is louder than my six year old microwave. It is louder than the low setting on my exhaust fan (a Kenmore 500 CFM). It is louder than my Cuisinart toaster/convection oven. I don't have to raise my voice to talk while it is running, but my kids do turn up the volume a little bit on little TV sitting on the counter ten feet away. My research suggests that the quietest dual-fuel slide-in is the Kenmore Elite. After debating this for months, I ultimately decided to stay with the Bosch because I love how it looks. It is Titanium (stainless with white glass) and it looks terrific with my white cabinets. It's that whole form over function thing! The burners are fine and the oven bakes nicely. I am just perplexed as to why a company that boasts of having such quiet dishwashers can't make a quiet range! nclakehouse, I don't think you are supposed to have a silicone oven liner above the heating coils. The one I bought - and returned - stated that it must be placed under the coils - which is hard to do with the hidden elements! Nicole
