Today's Flower & Sand Carpets

Painting made of loose sand

Well I managed to escape this morning around 10 am and took a taxi up to the town of La Orotava (no messing around trying to park for me....I was short of time since I had men repairing our roof and had to get back soon) and with two cameras and good walking shoes, I still had to huff and puff up a hill or two since roads were blocked up to the top.

But it was worth it of course, to see the beautiful sand carpets in the plaza in front of the Ayuntamiento (city hall) and the beginning of the floral carpets, many of which were still in their chalked in form as it was still early in the day. I did the required visit to the Ayuntamiento balconies on the upper floor and took photos from there and after wandering around for half an hour, I noticed the crowds were really beginning to be a problem for trying to look at the floral carpets.

So I headed downhill and found a taxi ready and willing to take my tired feet back home!

What a wonderful day. Now I have to watch the ceremony on TV this evening.

Here's my slideshow of some of my photos, (the first one was from 2007 but all the rest are from this morning....June 18)

and here are some of the photos with commentary on my Tenerife blog.

I hope you enjoy sharing my Tenerife experiences!
