Vista Toolbar Help

Hi,

My sister has Vista. Her toolbar does not show at the top of her pages EXCEPT on her email page. How can I direct her on what to do to make it show. She doesn't see the words, file, edit, view etc. I have XP so I know nothing about Vista. She lives 5 states away so I can't go there to help her. Any advice, suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

are you talking about at the top of her browser? is she using Internet Explorer? some versions have that hidden or on a different area so knowing which one she is using would be helpful.

In Vista, with IE, at the top right side of the page you should see "Tools". Click on Tools and then Toolbars. To get the file, edit, view, chose the "Favorites" toolbar.

Does the little clock at bottom right of screen keep time and date OK ? Im just guessing that the little coin battery that keeps track of the cmos/bios settings for the hardware has failed.. that's why you see I/O, hard drive, and why the keypress didn't work.... from what you have said. Needs that motherboards $2 big watch coin battery replaced maybe.. That battery also keeps your time and date correct. on which browser? IE? firefox? Version? Please provide needed info when asking questions so we know what we are working with. try clicking on View at the top then toolbars and see if it is checked to appear. have you tried rebooting to see if it reappears?

I found the troubleshooting page on Google. I had to unlock the toolbar and pull over Google. It was hidden. These pesky problems are so annoying. Thanks.

On tools menu, Toolbars - add a check mark to 'Menu Bar' if IE8.

I forget IE7 but probably just a simple simply push of the ALT key displays the Menu Bar, then you should be able to click 'View / Tool Bars / Menu Bar ... to add that.

Oops, Mikie is right. It's the menu toolbar. I actually have no idea why I typed "favorites", except it was a "senior moment". Thanks for correcting, Mikie.
