Patio door height for 9' ceiling master bedroom
Comments (2)Definitely the 6'8 or a 7'. An 8' will leave you very little room between the moulding and ceiling. You have to factor trim around the doors into the equation as well. Is this a traditional or contemporary build? If you hang window treatments (i.e., drapes), they need to be hung just below the molding, or so the experts say :) This enlongates the windows and looks great. There are some differing rules if you are doing a valance and have higher than 9' ceilings, but with 9' you should hang below the molding for sure. As far as the 10' patio door - hard to say without a plan. I love the idea of a wall of windows, but would have to see it in plan form to see what other space you have. I must say though we were at the Wynn in Vegas a few years ago and one of my favorite things was the wall of windows across from the bed (the curtains were on remote!). Beautiful view and if you have this it might work great!...See Morewhat height doors for 9 foot ceilings upstairs?
Comments (2)Definitely 6'8". Your door height to ceiling height ratio downstairs is 8 to 11 or 0.73 to 1. If you use 6'8" doors upstairs with the 9 ft ceilings, you will have a door height to ceiling height ration of 6.67 to 9 or 0.74 to 1. You can't get much closer than that. 7 ft tall doors would probably look okay but they'll be a bit taller in proportion to the 9 ft ceilings than the door height to ceiling height proportions downstairs. Besides, 7 ft tall doors are a custom size at most companies which means that they'll cost you a whole lot more than otherwise identical 6'8" doors from the same company....See MoreHelp with window height with 9ft ceilings
Comments (14)Builders frequently tell owners that something on the architectural drawings should be done differently. When the builder wants to be subtle about it, he simple asks the owner, "would you just confirm that this is what you want to do?" The reason that builders ask these questions may be: 1) something may be wrong; 2) the builder simply doesn't like or want to do it that way. The best way to get the best answer is to have the architect review the situation and give you a response. After all, you paid her/him to prepare the drawings and specifications for construction, so why not follow them with a discussion about the issue. Chances are, it can be resolved in a matter of minutes with the architect involved (if it's really an architect who did the drawings)....See MoreHelp with ceiling height/door and window heights
Comments (12)How are you going to vent your dryer? You have a maximum of 25' run and that's without any turns. Is there a reason you need three separate eating areas? And is there a reason you want a house and especially a kitchen that will be dark? When you enter your master bath do you really want to see the toilet closet first? Is there a reason there is only a single small window in bedrooms 2 and 3? Why are there only 2 small windows on either side of the fireplace in the great room?...See Moresoesoe75
