you're not wrong. you need a fixture over each area.

It seems like you definitely need more light. If you can return the 37" wide light you purchased, you could select one that's much wider and has more lights. That would likely be less expensive than having the electrician back to set you up for two fixtures; that would require moving the box now in the center (including patching the wall) to have boxes centered over the two segments of your counter. If you can't find a wider fixture you like, then two fixtures is probably the way to go.

Thanks Eric - But I have looked on-line a lot and I truly can't find something I like. I realize it will require drywall patch, etc. but if the light isn't truly centered over my sink bowl, I think it will drive me nuts.

Any suggestions on 1 mirror or 2 for this space?

I would recommend two separate lights. in our master bath we have 2 36" vanities and a 33" makeup vanity in between. I plan to have 3 separate mirrors over each area, hung at same level and do 3 separate sconces(with 3 lights each)

2 mirrors also. I would think the one over the makeup area would be lower since the makeup area will be.

maybe you could find 2 that match in different heights so that the tops will be even. that would also mean that the lights for it would be higher over you will putting on make up tho.

Well I had someone come over and took at the space. The suggestion was to have 1 large mirror - but to have it centered over the vanity & make-up area. Then use the light that I have, as it would then be centered w/the vanities and mirror. Luckily, I do have 2 recessed lights in that area too.

Even though I won't have a light directly centered over the bowl it should look ok as it is centered w/everything else.

I'm about at my end w/making decisions !

Jeannie, I'm glad for you that you've decided your lighting will be okay. Since you mentioned that you have two recessed lights overhead, one thing you can do is aim (angle) the light so it hits the center of your sink bowl and make-up vanity more than it does now.

Depending on the size and style of your recessed lights, there are different types of angled trim kits. If you have 6" or 5" housings, there are lots of eyeball trims, which can typically angle the light up to 30 degrees.
