Smal fonts when using new printer

I just bought a new printer, when I print web pages the fonts are so small it's difficult to read, all other printing is just fine. Where do I look to fix this, on the web page or in my printer. It is an HP desk jet f 4480. I use vista and FF.

use the print preview feature and set your sizes from that. You get to see exactly how it will look when printed

I did the preview, didn't look there for a way to change it. Thanks, I will give it a try. I was trying to print the instructions from one of the sites you recommended.

Hmmmmmmmm, don't remember what caused that but it seems that I had the same problem long ago. Be sure to select your font and font size before you begin to type. If it reverts back all is not lost. Finish typing, then highlight the type, go back to the font list and select the type font you wanted and it will change it to that type face. You can also change the size of the font the same way.

Your suggestion worked when I went to the webpage. I find it interesting that I never had to do that before. Makes me wonder if I got a virus or something that changed the setting. When I went to my bank's webpage, it too printed out ok. That was either just timing or perhaps the setting change I made for the other page carried over to this. Thanks. I thought I'd report back for people who are still looking. I ended up getting the Canon Pixma MX850 (after seeing the review at pcmag.com which suggested that there were substantial improvements over the earlier model (they were not directly comparing it to the mx700, but rather a recent MP??? model. Nevertheless, it sounded like this 850 was better than what came before (the details about how skip my mind, but I know in readin it, it seemed worthwhile). I had someone set up the Canon on Friday. It is big (and as Jane said, it's attractive and seems commercial in quality). I LOVE IT. The software is not bulky like HP, and it was easy to connect the printer to my desktop, my daughter's, my husband's laptop and my laptop. I can scan documents and the wonderful lcd display will walk me through simple steps. It asks if I'm scanning from the platen or document feeder, if it should be saved to a pc or faxed or emailed (I believe those were the choices). Then you can choose which computer to receive the scan (that computer must be on to receive it - otherwise I think it could be sent as an email attachment to be loaded on the computer later), and whether it should be saved as a pdf file or jpg. There are other formats for saving it in as well but I haven't tried that yet. There's also a way to optically capture the text and turn it into a text document which I think can be edited (for those without the expensive Acrobat Writer which allows editing of PDF files but costs a few hundred dollars). I know some of the above is very simple and naive, but I've included for folks like myself who have no idea what they were looking for. It easily prints in color or black. It has a duplexer. I'm not sure I'll care that much about printing two-sided documents, but I love the either of feeding 2-sided documents in the ADF (auto document feeder) and being able to copy or scan them without standing there and changing pages. That was a huge factor for me in getting this over the MX700 which doesn't have a duplexer. At first I hadn't considered the convenience of copying and scanning 2-sided documents by loading the sheets in the ADF, pressing a button and walking away. That's convenient. This printer is also remarkably quiet. I was used to loud functioning from my HP PSC 950 and didn't realize printers could be so quiet. I could even carry on a business call without interference. I'm thrilled with this machine (which Dell has for $239 - best price I found). Even my husband who saw no reason for obsessing about this choice is amazed at how much functionality and ease of use is packed into a $240 machine. Color printer won't work w new cartridge

I have found on some models for some reason they want you to replace the black cartridge also, have you tried removing and replacing the current black cartridge along with the new color one? you may try that and even adding a new black one to see if that is what it takes. and to clarify is it printing at all? does the black print? what happens when you do try to print?

There is no way to change the size there. Last week I tried to print 3 copies of the same document and it wouldn't do that either. I read something about downloading a new driver for this printer if you want full use of the printer. When I went to do that, I didn't understand any of it and I do know how to do that. I will go Google it again and see what I come up with. I may have to call HP.

I downloaded drivers and made the mistake of getting a full package. I could print copies then, but still could not change the size of fonts in the place Raven recommended. Maybe it is just that site. My computer took a very long time to boot, so I did a system restore and got rid of it. I don't use all of that fancy stuff.

which site are you looking at I will take a look and see what happens when I try to print it.
and is it happening just on one site or on all websites that your font is too small?

I am using firefox as my browser, if I click on file at the top then on print preview it opens the page in the print preview pane, at the very top it has a scale option, usually it says shrink to fit but if you click the drop down arrow it gives you options for increasing the size.

I even went to IE(which I never use) and also there when you select file at the top then print preview you have a scale option with a drop down arrow default says shrink to fit, but under the options you can select larger option.
there should also be an option up there in the little icons if you hover your mouse over it will say show full width you can try that too.

I will check that out. I just thought it would set it to fill the page, I did not relate it to the font size. I had no problem with my last printer. Thanks.

Raven that worked. I lost my option to print "selection", only, but it did give me the option to print the 2nd page only. Thanks for your help and patience.

If you continue to have problems I would go to the HP chat and talk to them, I have found them to be extremely helpful. I had to chat with them when I got my last printer because the cd that came with it was not installing properly, they knew of the problem and sent me out a new updated cd immediately over night.
Especially since this is a new printer.
