Pop-up Blocker?

i have been using google toolbar for a long time and up until recently it has worked.

but for about a week now i am getting pop-ups everywhere!

it's a real nuisance.

so any suggestions for another pop-up blocker?

Go to Control Panel - Internet Options - Privacy Tab -
at the bottom put a check mark for Block Popups.
Privacy should be set to Medium
For Firefox go to Tools - Options - Contents Tab -
Check mark - Block Popup Windows.

that is turned on and i still get them :(

the very best way to get rid of all of them including the new inline ads GW warned about putting on recently is to use firefox browser with the adblock plus add on and the easylist subscription, it blocks them all, I see no ads anywhere. Firefox Adblock Plus 1.1.3 once you have that then go to the easylist page below, go to the 2 yellow lines for easylist and easyprivacy to the right where it says add to ABP click there and it will be added to your adblock plus and you will be all done EasyList and it is a very good idea to have at least 2 browsers on every pc in case something should happen to your IE browser.

Firefox firefox is a browser yes it is free you will use it instead of using Internet Explorer, simply install firefox and you can tell it to import all your bookmarks and settings from your Ie so it will all be there on the firefox also just like on your IE. then you will need to add the adblock plus add on Adblock Plus 1.1.1 click the add to firefox box once you have firefox installed then you will add the easylist filter EasyList Subscriptions you should add both of those to your adblock plus both easy list and easy list privacy.

With IE7 and XP SP2, I can go to Tools when open with IE and the Pop Up Blocker designation is second line - Turn On or Off. Mine's off, because I have another program (not free) that blocks all pop ups even more effectively - but I'm curious as to why you want yours off. They are so annoying....

Does your computer stay on all the time, connected to
the Internet? When your Popup Blockers are set or
changed you need to sign off the Internet to allow them
to reset. Anyway that's the way it used to be with AOL.

Googles has it's own popup blocker and I guess you have it
set.

no, I am on dial-up, so I don't stay online much.
the pop-ups have become very annoying now !
so I probably will be online even less :(

You don't want to give up on the Internet because of Pop-ups
Having computer problems is the only thing that keeps me
entertained. I am always getting into trouble with mine.
I have dial-up, slow but cheaper. You didn't say what your
Operating System is. Is it windows XP? If so do you have service pack 2
Are you using Internet Explorer 6.0?
What protection do you have?
Firewall
AntiVirus
AdAware
SpyWareBlaster
If you have all of this, you could download FireFox for
your browser.
All of the things listed can be found for FREE

i have XP - not sure about service pack.
I have IE 7.0 and AVG antivirus
not sure about firewall, where would i find that?
i have adaware
does firefox prevent popups?
sorry, i know some about computers but not a lot.
just enough to make a good mess of it sometimes :P

Uninstall anything Google or Yahoo.

(i have XP - not sure about service pack. )
Right click My Computer - Left click Properties -
If you have service Pack 2 It will be listed in the
General Tab area.
If you have service Pack 2 you will also have a
Firewall in the Control Panel that should be turned on.
Windows Firewall.

Firefox has a Popup Blocker.
It can be downloaded here.
Firefox
It will take a good while to download with dial-up.
If you don't like this location just do a search.

It wouldn't hurt if you did a Disk Cleanup and used
the Disk Defragmenter if you haven't done it lately.
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools -
Disk Cleanup or Disk Defragmenter.

You shouldn't be getting Popups with IE 7.0

If you don't have Service Pack 2 that may be your trouble.

i will do the disk clean up and if that doesnt help i will download firefox tonight
