Houzz has 108 vanities between 16-18" deep and 35-36" wide HERE. You can have the sink in the center, flushed to the right with drawers on the left, or flushed to the left with drawers on the right. Floating or footed. On legs or with an inset kick space. Wood grain or painted, wood, laminate, or steel. Open shelf at bottom, or all open with one shelf. You have an embarrassment of riches to choose from, and this is only one site. You should have tried looking for one five years ago!

You can also consider a semi-recessed sink that protrudes a bit from the counter. Mine is made to be accessed by a wheelchair, so comes out further than a lot of them do. You can find lots of semi-recessed sinks from European manufacturers like Duravit and Nameeks. Mine is from Sbordoni and my counter is 16” deep. But you don’t even need to do that. There are hundreds of 18” deep vanities out there these days. Many are “console“ style like this one: But there are plenty of floating vanities and regular vanities available that are only 18” deep. SignatureHardware.com has a bunch. Or go to the for sale part of Houzz, or to QualityBath.com, Build.com, or any bathroom site and adjust the search parameters to 18” deep and the width you want to see what is available. You absolutely do not need a wall-mounted faucet. As for how much space you need for clearance around the sink and faucet, it all depends on who is doing the countertop. If you are having a local stone company do the top, ask their rules. I tried to work with a couple of the companies near me befor buying my sink and just gave up. Sales people often have set numbers for where it “should“ go and cannot answer questions for non-standard sizes. I tried writing very specific questions to the actual stone cutters to help me figure out which sink to buy and got nowhere. No one would answer at the place that had my quartz. That is how I ended up with a walnut counter. My carpenter is a genius and I knew he could cut those angles for me. You may find it easiest to buy a vanity with the top included. I did not have that option because I needed to wheel a chair underneath my vanity.

We paid $750 for granite countertop, installed with 3" back and side-splashes, and a shelf for the niche (which you can't see in any picture). Vanity was about $700; I changed the knobs to polished nickel which added about $50. The issue if you want an undermount sink is how to fit the sink and faucets into the 18". We found a small sink (11-1/2x15-1/2 if I remember correctly) that was made to fit prefab granite countertops imported from China. There's no brand name on it; we found it at HD Supply one day when I was wandering the aisle while my husband was buying something else. I had my camera and tape measure with me and went home and figured out the measurements. (I had talked to the granite fabricator earlier and he told me my max dimensions.) By offsetting the single-hole faucet and soap dispenser, we were able to fit everything in. I'm using this bathroom right now while our master is in construction; the vanity top is not really roomy, but sufficient. It doesn't work for two-at-a-time though. This will be our guest bath. By the way, a small tape measure and digital camera are your shopping friends. I still refer to my digital product photos for reference. I was scolded at Lowe's once for taking pictures, but 95% of the stores and people were great. I learned to take pictures of the product, the box it came in, the price tag on the shelf, etc. Really helped a week later when trying to sort through things.

wonbyherwits, I have seriously considered your space saving solution ever since being struck by clare_de_luna and roccocogirl's stunning bathrooms on this site. Eliminating a vanity is going out on a limb a little, but the added space, forced lack of clutter and the beauty of the pedestal's simplicity gives it a big advantage. What is the name of your pedestal sink? What still tempts me about a 60" vanity is the placement of a long, strong horizontal line in this 7' x 8' rectangular room (tub & closet along one side), the storage, matching the door pattern of the vanity to that of my linen closet hutch, and the fear that the next family to live in this house will hate me. But after endless searching I have lost hope of finding the perfect vanity which will also open up the space. A wall mounted vanity would work, but is too modern for my traditional beadboarded home. I think verysleepy is also verysmart to have solved that problem by building a vanity to specifications. jhampton, I took another look at your link to the top mounted sink and realized it comes with it's own cabinet pedestal. I've never seen that one. It would be a very nice space saving storage place in the right space. Thanks very much for your input and pictures.
