These are the instructions form link I posted above for IE, Step 1: Enable add-ons Click the Internet Explorer Tools menu, or press Alt-T on your keyboard. Select Manage Add-ons. If Google Toolbar, Google Toolbar Helper, or Google Toolbar Notifier BHO is disabled, select each add-on and click Enable. Click Close. Step 2: Enable the Toolbar in the "View" menu Click the Internet Explorer View menu, or press Alt-V on your keyboard. Select Toolbars. If Google Toolbar doesn't have a checkmark beside it, select Google Toolbar. Step 3: Reset Internet Explorer settings Click the Internet Explorer Tools menu, or press Alt-T on your keyboard. Select Internet Options. On the Advanced tab, click Reset. Select the "Delete personal settings" checkbox. Click Reset. If you still don't see the Toolbar, try the steps above again to re-enable add-ons and the Toolbar.

I am not getting these follow-up posts emailed to me even though i checked to have emails sent - so I didn't know there was more. I hope they keep supporting version 3 - since we have 5 xp computers between home and work. I do have FF4 on dd's laptop - but not quite sure how it's going for her. She said she didn't like it - and I offered to try above suggestions to make it appear more like she's familiar with. She wants me to in theory - but in reality never wants to hand over the computer to have me do it. When I have more leisure to try again, am I recalling correctly that I can have 2 firefoxes installed - one version 3, and one version 4? And I can use xmarks to sync bookmarks, etc. That way I can get used to ff4 - but go back to 3 for the times I need things to go smoothly and not tinker? on which browser? IE? firefox? Version? Please provide needed info when asking questions so we know what we are working with. try clicking on View at the top then toolbars and see if it is checked to appear. have you tried rebooting to see if it reappears?

Lynn, I have not found any specific MS update to cause my problem - yet. What I have found is that having to log in with each visit is specific to Firefox only. Then it struck me, I updated to version 3 a couple of days after the MS updates. My Internet Explorer and Opera still have me logged in here and elsewhere yet I have not used either for a long time. Regarding protecting your cookies. open Ccleaner click Options on the left side click Cookies Now you should see a long list down the left side of the window. Look for thsgardenweb.com - gardenweb.com and ivillage.com and click each to highlight and use the arrow to move them to the right side. Any other site you visit can also be moved over there. Close the window when you have finished and those cookies will be protected when you use Ccleaner. Ravencajun, I do not think Forcefield is my enemy here, I stopped it running with no effect on having to log in on each visit to Firefox. Seems maybe I need to dig around FF3, I had read we are being forced to update very soon so decided the time was right - perhaps not, haha. Yes, I got Forcefield on the free for a year deal. Not sure I will keep it though as it might be slowing me slightly. Anyway I can always try the free Sandboxie if I feel I need that kind of protection. My Avast became corrupt about 3 days ago and I got a virus so even that causes me a bit of concern. Re-installed Avast and ran a full scan, plus a full scan with Superantispyware and an online scan at Bitdefender so I am comfortable there should be no outside 'influence' on my machine. Thanks for your input, I may read more on Forcefield before removing it.
