I'd like to use an old wash stand or console in a 31.5" wide powder room. Anyone else use furniture for a vanity?

Just a follow-up...we had to lower the lighted makeup mirror on the side wall because it was set too high. I'm glad I dropped the backsplash and mirror down. It was recommended to me to continue the backsplash from the sink vanity across and do one large mirror - I'm glad I didn't do that. Since I am short I wouldn't have been able to see myself in the mirror. I can just see my head and the top of my shoulders in the current set-up while I am sitting. If I had to do it all over, I think I would've just done a backsplash just at the sink vanity. Then I would've had the mirror come all the way down at the makeup area without a backsplash/sidesplash. That way I'd be able to see all of my hair (my hair is long). Then on DH's side I would've just done a backsplash and no sidesplash to match. If anyone decides to do this, make sure the granite fabricators know so they can do a nice clean cut where there is no backsplash/sidesplash. well it's very small so that was all the point..to find something really small. For a really small powder room. Found on Craigslist; it's both handmade and vintage..had to tweak a bit since it didn't had anything to hasten it to the wall, had to paint too since was rusty.. the pic taken upon moving it; now has towel, basket, soap dish, art..blahblah all the useful and just-because-I-like-it-jazz The house is Spanish ranch some best vanities I saw here were repurposed vintage dressers and consoles..if it matches your style and your house's style, you can look into this option I hope they(the users I'm talkng about) see the post and show their wonderful vanities I also like my master bath vanity but that was custom made to fill the much much bigger space and looks more ordinary..I do love the colors though, and the marble remnant we used for a countertop..it was supercheap since a remnant. It's all shades of gray plus golden rust veining as main colors. (the paint is much warmer than it seems. oh well) I feel it's a lot what surrounds it too our hall bath-the vanity is new but craigslisted..nothing to write home about but I found one with two open shelves rather being a single heavier looking piece, to keep more light look (it's a smaller bath..37' vanity..had to add tons of storage but in indiscreet way)..found right bins to go there..3, for family and one, for guests..I change the name tag each time we have a new guest, write his/her name..:) (asked my daughter to cut out cute tags) (if I don't want tags to be seen I just turn a bin. lol)

Marcopolo5, I only recently found out about the yellow cardinal! I would so, so love to see a bird like that in person. I never knew such a bird existed and I've been interested in birds for probably 40 years!!! There is a cardinal in Hawaii that also looks very different. I probably have a picture somewhere but it isn't digital, so it would be a search to find it. I knew immediately when I saw it that it was at least related to the cardinal. Fascinating to see the differences found in the same kind of bird.
