FLush DNS

My cable company installed a new internet modem and now Internet Explorer won't load. I didn't realize that until they left. I use Netscape. I called them and they said that the dns cache needs to be flushed. It does give some quick message about dns something or other!
I read that to do that in Windows xp is easy....type ipconfig/flushdns at the command prompt.
Is that all there is to it?? Is that a safe, logical thing to do?
They will send someone out to do it....in two weeks!!!!
