Going out on a LImb here (this may not be the best place to ask)

Can Bath salts be left in an open container in my bathroom? I am trying to emulate a "spa" like feeling in my bathroom. On my tub surround I have a tray with river stone and candles, crushed seashells in an apothecary jar and I want to add a scent to fulfill my zen space..

I wanted to put bath salts in an open container (a nice bowl of some sort) but not sure if that is the best thing to do. I supposed I could just use a diffuser, but I like the look of the open "bowl" much better?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I am not sure but don't they clump if they get humidity near them? You could try it as there is little downside if it doesn't work out ;)
I have 2 young sons and they would manage to spill the bowl within the first day somehow...

Thanks for responding-- i am just full of questions tonight aren't i???

I was thinking of getting something like a hot pepper shaker (like at pizza parlor's) to put them in so I could still get the smell.. Funny thing is I don't actually plan on using them-- just want to smell them.. Perhaps I am over-thinking this way too much and should just get a diffuser!!

Berkeley has a rose garden kind of up in the hills on Euclid Avenue. They won't have many of your roses, but they'll have some. I think Oakland also has some rose gardens, but I haven't been to them. The rose garden in GG park may not be blooming much right now, since it's been so cool. That garden usually doesn't have much bloom, since SFO is so cool. The Russian River Rose Co. in Healdsburg has most of your roses. They're only open by appointment in summer, but they're usually open again for weekends in October. They've got a lovely rose allee that goes into the vineyards & offers a great view of the hills - I love that place! I agree w/ Elise - you'll enjoy Garden Valley Ranch in Petaluma. Filoli is also wonderful, and there's a museum in Palo Alto that has English roses, but I haven't been there. If you're interested in a trek, you could explore the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery. It's a lovely place, with antique & found roses, masoleums, etc. For me, Fair Bianca is a small shrub - I didn't know it could be a climber. It has that classic english diaper pail fragrance :) (I'm not exactly sure why Austin has so many roses w/ that fragrance!) Mme Issac Perriere (not sure about spelling) has one of the strongest rose fragrances & grows well for me in zone 9. She can be a pillar or climber & she's rarely out of bloom for me. Mme Alfred is another great! Good luck!

I just looked at a condo I may purchase that had brazilian cherry flooring. The floor underneath the area's that were carpeting was a very different color. From reading this forum it appears that when exposed to light the floor color changes. Is there any way to even the coloring out? Will the flooring ever get to a more even coloring all over? The reason I'm asking is that if I purchase the condo I'd like to extend the flooring throughout but if its going to end up looking odd I'll have to rethink things

Well, bad news. I already had AnyCapture (by Tucows) installed on my PC, which means I tried it twice now with no luck. The program takes the capture, but the image moves around and saves as nothing but a black box. I don't understand how so many people have made their own stills from this movie. They must have high-tech capturing devices, the kind that hook up to your DVD player on your TV. Anyway, I'll just have to do my doll while watching and pausing the movie a lot. Thanks for the help anyway. I will email you my pixel doll website link :)

Howdy Ms Mosaicwench1: Thanks for the answers!!! I'm so excited about your answer because I moved here to the very old town of Rockford, Il and they have a ton of old windows..... they have had 2 floods in the last 11 months due to the ROCK RIVER and Keith Creek and quite a few houses have been condemned and many more having to be remodeled... not to mention the regular updating and remodeling of the older home.. well what I am saying I picked up a bout 3 of dozen various size old windows (some with 4 panes and some with 6 and some with 8 and a few with 2 and 1 ) That's why I ask you can you paint and or mosaic/ or GOG as you say... cause I want to do what you are doing.. I have to start somewhere.... So I know I will not be on the same grade as you .... but I am going to set my standards high!!! when I grow Up I want to be like YOU !!! PS should I sand and paint the frames 1st? and Some probably need to be recaulked ? I'll try to take some pictures / if you are willing to give me more pointers from time to time.... What do you have to lose? they will clump from humidity and turn into a rock; you just have to hope it will remain a nice smelling rock (don't know how long the scent lasts). You could put them in a bowl, but not fill it fully, then add new bath salts on top as the scent diminishes. Then toss them and do it over again.

You could use rock salt, which is huge particles. A nice easy scent is dashes of eucalyptus essential oil and dashes of peppermint oil. Very, very 'spa' smelling.

Have you thought about a nice orchid? They generally like humidity and low light conditions. Then one of the orchid scented diffusers would be somewhere out of the way to help contribute to the effect.

Generally, the round bath oil beads would not tend to dissolve on you, until you dropped them into the bath water. Plus, they would look neat in a jar.

Other options would be incense, they can diffuse in the air without being burned. And some of the potpourri botanicals with lovely shapes can also be used. Things like the star anise. Or a shell with some scented essential oils like lavender hidden inside. I think just a hint of a scent is always more effective than an overpowering odor.

Hmmm, even a small glass vase with sprigs of rosemary or lavender would look low key and appropriate in a bath.

Great ideas!! I am going to play around with them all this week--- Now all I need is a personal masseuse- to give me Hot Stone Massages-- and I would really achieve my spa atmosphere --(My DH has already said good luck with that--:(
