countertops near a powerful stove

Hi all:

I'm considering getting a Capital Culinarian as part of a major kitchen redo. The front burners are 23,000 BTU.

Any of you out there with a powerful stove have any problem with the counters adjacent to it? We're leaning toward a solid surface material like Staron or Corian, but if there would be any problem we'd choose granite or quartz. (I know that Corian can scorch, but I do like the idea of integral sinks--that's why I'm considering that, but if it's not a good idea, I'd consider something else.)

FWIW, a sales person said there wouldn't be a problem, and I have no reason to doubt that, but I'd like to hear from anyone who has used Corian or Staron next to a big honkin' gas-burning stove.

TIA
