Lawnmower confusion with bells & whistles
Comments (9)Actually, the Personal PAce are simpler mechanically than the old 3 speeds. They are a simple single speed gear box. The actuation of the handle controls the belt tension -really in the same way that lifting the drive bail did. Brilliantly simple. Belts last practically forever on them too. On casters, I personally find them awkward. Others may beg to differ. Maybe after you are used to them you don't get them caught on things as much. I have a real neat feature on my LAwnboy that you step on a lever that releases the handle assembly so it tips forward and out of the way when it is time to remove the bag. Also, the bag has no door on it like the Toro Super Recyclers did. A thing or two to think about. WHo knows, maybe this years models are all differant....See MoreAre more expensive electric ranges worth it?
Comments (4)I don't expect things now days to last as long, we live in a disposable society. I had an electric range that lasted 20 years, one that lasted 8 years (locked on cleaning cycle and about burned the house down before I replaced) and the current one that is 3 and 1/2 years old. All Kenmores, so I would be disappointed if they don't last but 5 years now. The current one is giving indications it has an issue with occasionally burning cakes on the bottom. I have to put cookie sheets under items to keep them from burning. I have never had a problem with the cooktops, it is always the ovens that die. I don't mind spending extra on a good convection oven that can make breads and pizzas. I would like to try induction, but it is not a necessity. I am not a bell and whistle person as long as it has the basics. I think a good cook can learn to cook on any stovetop. I just don't want to spend $2,000-$3,0000 on an Electrolux or GE Cafe when a good standard model works fine and lasts as long. I don't think Wolf comes in all electric, and that is about the only professional grade name I am familar with so any advice will be greatly appreciated....See MoreBells and Whistles in Bathroom
Comments (15)I went yesterday alone to the plumbing showroom, I was overwhelmed, all these people in there with their designers and I thought geez am I making a mistake trusting only my decisions. Looked at the Toto toiliet, was really just getting feet wet because going with contractor today. I just got the proposal from contractor, we are adding sq feet to master along with bath, none of the whistles were in the price, I pick all my towel bars, toilet, lights, everything....so it that the norm? I guess could be good or bad....puts the budget on my shoulders for sure. This could add another $$$ for sure, I would suspect that the flooring and cabinet the biggies......See MoreFoodsaver vaccum. Worth it? 3800 (automatic) or 2400 (,manual)?
Comments (32)I bought one when they first came out. Back then they were pretty tiresome to use. You have to really lean on it to get it to extract the air and seal and it makes a very loud sound while doing so. I kept it in the laundry room on the counter. It's fine but recently it broke after all these years and I was glad to get it off of the counter top. I find that I just don't need it. We have grocery stores very near and I don't normally buy in bulk anymore since it's just the two of us. The bags are expensive at least it seems and I'm not going to wash them out like it says you can (what I need, another job) so I would run out of them not realizing I was close to the end. I would put off ordering because you had to order a lot of them at a time and I didn't really want to spend $30-40 dollars for bags and so I would put it off and then forget about it. You can get them at Costco but the combinations of bags were not what I was looking for or they were just the rolls and so many of them! Something else to store! Then for the longest time you couldn't get the larger ones and the small ones are not useful for me. You can make your own but it was sort of a pita. It was freeing to be rid of it. One less thing on my counter and I'm enjoying the extra space I have now. If I had a large family and bought in bulk quite often and had a lot of freezer space I think it would be very helpful, if not, then I don't really think it's that necessary....See Morecarterinms
