Please help - USB drive won't work

Windows XP/Digital SD/MMC reader writer usb drive

When I insert the device, windows tells me I have installed a new piece of hardware. I can see the drive on 'my computer it is called drive F '. My device mgr tells me it is working properly and I can see the properties on the drive.

When I try to send a file to the drive, I get an error message that says 'install disk in drive F' This is so frustrating!

What's wrong?

You don't say what brand it is, or what card is installed in the device. I had never heard of these until your question and I googled Digital SD/MMC reader writer usb drive. Most "thumb drives" I have, or have seen have a manual lock on them to keep from accidentally erasing any information on them. Could this be the case?

If this is what you have in the photo, you'll need a memory card to put in it. That's why it's asking for a disk.
They're called converter drives, where you insert a memory card and it works like a flash drive.

If it were me on this particular tractor, after checking the the brakes to ensure the mechanisim is free- I would drop the deck and have a look at the belt tension, idler pulleys and then turn my attention to the engine drive pulley. The upper pulley on these split sometimes so then the belt is driving from the bottom. It is a possibility that the driven pulley on the transaxle is worn too. Some Murrays, the steering shaft needs to be lifted out to get the belt on. I've seen where belts have been put on rubbing on the shaft a couple times. You want to know that you have solid input to the transaxle. The description does sound like an internal transaxle issue, but cover your bases first. If all else is good, pull the transxle and clean it up real good and get back to us with the specs. The numbers of which you seek will be on the tag. Certainly the tag is still there! If not, search for the 205 write ups w/ pics of the bellow kit install and you will likley have a match.

Hi Phyllis, Can you tell me what version of IE you are using, to find out, in your Browser menu, you know where it says -file Edit View, well click on the help one the click about IE, It will tell you the version you are using, I would hope you are at IE 7.. there are a lot of internet faxing options many are free some charge a fee if the size is large. FaxZero.com do a google search for "internet faxing" what type of internet connections are you using, what type of modem or router? which version of windows? Are you certain there is not a built in modem in your pc already? most have them and they are generally fax modems. You could run belarc advisor on your pc and get a list of what is on it. go to this link, in the tutorial box scroll to item 100 it gives you the directions to how to use fax in windows wizard. Sounds like the opener has reached it's end of life stage. The one in our current house died one day. For the $150 it took to replace it, I was way ahead of the frustration factor.

I have two of the exact readers that you have pictured Randy. My computer will not recognize them.

I have a SD card plugged in, the computer knows I have plugged one it, (makes a chime) but it does not show up. When I click on Drive F or Drive G (depending on which port I am plugged into) it says PLEAE INSERT DISK INTO DRIVE F: or G:

The card(s) works fine (in other readers) and the USB ports work fine.

I can put a different type reader in the drive with the same card - no problem - but these blue readers don't work. I have tried them in 4 other computers, just to make sure it wasn't mine. I have the older USB, but the readers didn't work in 2.0 ports on other computers either. I thought maybe it was 2.0 compatibilty issues.

I got my readers free with cards I had purchased on eBay. The cards work fine - so I just chalked it up to faulty readers.
