After you set your homepage using the Options/Preferences of your unnamed browser are you clicking on OK or just X-ing out?

I put the page I want on, then go to tools options and opt for "use current" and ok out. Sometimes I have to set it a time or two before it takes. I deleted google completely from my PC.

if thats Internet Explorer... down below a ways that 'use current' button is a Change Search Defaults with a Settings... button. Look in there.

I was online with HP technician for over an hour about my google problem. After trying many different things they told me all i can do is do aSystem Recovery, From what i read i need to put everything on a cd for backup but my DVD drive doesn't work. Is it possible to put everything on memory stick ?

You don't say what browser you are using... or what operating system.

I would probably uninstall the browser. Sounds like you are using the optional Internet Explorer browser thats enhanced for bing & MSN.

That is just nuts them telling you that you need to do that kind of thing. Please let's not do that, give us the information we need we can help you. What browser are you using and what version, click Help, about, to get the version.
It sounds like you are not using a standard version but one optimized for msn as mentioned.
But you also mentioned removing Google from the pc, I thought you wanted Google and not msn??
Go to your control panel, and in programs add remove look for any thing msn and bing related remove them.
I would suggest getting firefox also so you have a backup browser, you should have at least two in case one fails.
Give us that information tell us if you find anything msn related. We can go from there.

Please give us your windows version also along with the browser information

After a 'recent' update of Firefox .. many folks were complaining about this very problem.

Since the browser wasn't given .. I'm throwing this out .. just in case!

I myself haven't been able to solve the problem with MY Firefox home page changing back to BING, even after doing everything that has been suggested in the Firefox forums.

I use Opera 99% of the time so I don't lose a lot of sleep over it.

I just realized it was not clarido, the op, that said they removed Google from the pc. That makes more sense.

I can give a direct link to the official IE with out any add on but really need to know if xp or 7 etc

I go with google .

It's so easy. Just go Google.com and bookmark it. Put it first in the bookmark bar. Done that for years. One click and you got it plus the satisfaction of crossing em up. :-)

I see in IE/8 in Manage Add-ons > Search Providers there is a checked box to "prevent other searchers from being suggested." Located conveniently at the very bottom in small font.

Not only that clicking on "find more search providers" (even smaller font) coughs up 123 suggested search outfits not one of which is Google for some reason. Can't imagine why.

Google knows more about what websites you visit & email you recieve, they know more about your lifestyle than you do.

I just don't understand it.

Ten years ago users here and across the Internet were screaming and complaining about Microsoft being too large and compiling personal information which "threatened" individual privacy. Well, today Google and Facebook among others are far, far worse than MS or anyone else ever was. And now, little is said and only by a few. Every once in a while I think users succomb to just being Eloi as in the Time Machine.

Thank you all. I didn't do a system recovery. My son came over and just put google back in and i don't know what he did different then i did but it stayed in...maybe i'm just going senile lol...

OK i'm back again. Now i have a virus and technician says it will cost me $59 for them to remove it.My browser is internet explorer and my laptop is Pavillion. Virus name is oops they won't let me put the name in, it was blocked.
