On the tool options for the freehand selection, make sure antialias is checked and set feather to 1. You can zoom in and remove smaller sections. When you have an area selected, hit delete on the keyboard instead of in PSP, I think it makes it cleaner. Make sure you have the background promoted to layer. You don't have to crop out the whole b/g just enough so that you can isolate your image. Then you can use the eraser tool to get rid of the rest.

You are welcome Carol, Gotta make things easier ya know? "lol" After MANY years of using things in my kitchen or other parts of the house, I just came up with a more handier idea wondering WHY????? I haven't thought of it before? Little things like moving my paper towel holder to a certain spot or using "tin foil" pie tins to cover my burners instead of spending $$ on the burner covers that get scratched up in time. Mind you, I like to cover my burners to keep me from splashing on them while cooking on one and I lay my cover on it while I stop to stir. They really are clean so I am not trying to hide them. I had to uninstall it and I did not lose anything!! I reinstalled it; what an improvement. I had really worn it out!!!!!!
