Want to make a map with favorite places

I would love to be able to make a map of my local area, marking favorite places - gardens, restaurants, shops etc., and being able to add and delete places as I choose. When I have to go to another part of town I would enjoy checking my map and be reminded of other interesting spots in that area.

Anyone know where I might find this?

Favorite places for great shrub prices

It's great being able to get smaller healthy plants at a big discount just because they are smaller. Beaver Creek Nursery near Knoxville is like that. They have lots of wonderful things at very reasonable prices because they aren't selling the large specimen size plants like most of the high end nurseries. The expensive stuff is fine for instant gratification, but given a few years, the smaller stuff usually catches up with the bigger plants and saves lots of money. They are also much easier to take home and to plant.

Wow- lots of places! I think a trip to Twin Cities is next up for me. Best name award goes to: Better Homes and Garbage Your mention of Detroit (fori) makes me wonder if any sort of concerted effort is being made to salvage the vast amount of materials there. Seems like there would be a WEALTH of resources there to be found in the miles and miles of collapsed and crumbling buildings....?

I just looked at SmartDraw and it looks good except for the price of $199! Thank you for looking around I appreciate it. I haven't searched Google Maps, maybe they have something.

Check out Google Earth too. Its free, and it uses actual photos of areas as if from a spy satellite. It allows you to zoom in so you can almost identify vehicles in driveways.
Some areas of the country have better quality photos than others. It allows you to identify areas by inserting placemark pins (which can be named)

I'll look into Mapquest, MS and your other suggestions. What I'm hoping to find is a street map where I can pinpoint places that interest me updating as I find new places. I guess I'll need to do some deeper looking into those sites.

Most streets and highways are marked in Google Earth.

If you want a good local map, a good alternative is to pay a visit to your local book store or Sams Club/Walmart and buy the local steet map guide. I've been satisified with publications by Rand McNally. I bought one last week. It contained 2 counties plus portions of 4 adjoining counties. Every street was mapped, and it has an index. I toss this into the car when I travel to an unfamiliar part of town. One caveat: New subdivisions and reconstructions can obsolete this map in a couple of years.
