TurboChef

Sent my wife to look at cooktops and she fell in love with the TurboChef oven. I don't see a whole lot on it so I'm relying on y'all for information. Anyone know how well it performs or the reliability?

If you want to see how well it performs pop something in at your local 7-11. At least here in CA almost every 7-11 I walk into has one. 15x faster than conventional oven and I think it does not sacrifice food quality.

There were lots of complaints about reliablity when the residential units first came out 5 years or so ago. I have not heard much complaints lately. Maybe you can talk to your local 7-11 manager,their turbochef ovens are going almost all day.

We Love Our Turbochef! When it works, which is not at all at the moment. We've had a repairman out no less than 5 times for our single wall unit and now it looks like we are going to have to fight to have them honor the extended warranty we are supposed to have through Plessers.
If I could do it all over again I would have saved the $8,000 and purchased a nice convection oven.

For those who have purchased a double oven TurboChef, I just bought three additional racks for the "regular" convection oven from TurboChef. Love them! Can't wait until Christmas baking season :-). Ctkathy, my wife and are reviewing and have short listed the TurboChef double oven. Twenty minutes is too long for a preheat even in a conventional oven. One of our concerns with the TurboChef is the third-party service techs who have to perform warranty; we would much rather have genuine TurboChef service techs as we have come to expect with Miele. When they replaced the board, I am assuming it was an electronic board? If it was electronic, did the service tech wear a grounded wrist strap and take the necessary precautions in handing it? I have had it out with service techs who have replaced electronics and are ignorant of the fact that they must be handled accordingly. If you have seen the results of static discharge on electronic components, you would be amazed at just how little discharge can do severe damage. Under an electron microscope, static discharge just from touching a part can look as though a shotgun was taken to the component. Which warranty did you purchase as TurboChef only offers extended one and two-year plans? Thanks.

Wow - it's been a long time since I've been here - I have missed GW!! Been trying to break my GW habit and have substituted it for a blogging one! :-) Anyhoo - back to the topic at hand - I am very excited about a new purchase and wanted to share. At Standards of Excellence Huntingting Beach location/premiumapplianceoutlet.com they have three Turbochef double ovens.

UMRP of $9500 for sale at $3500.And they have a free shipping offer right now too.

Two have an orange door for top oven and the other has a red door.

Not on their website yet would give them a call.
