I was just about to order Kohler Fairfax faucets for my daughter's bath when I happened to stop by a Lowes and look at the faucet display. They had a Fairfax, and I was really surprised to see that the body of the handle (the bulbous part below the lever handle) was just chrome-colored plastic! You could see the seam down it, it looked so cheap compared to the Kohler Purist faucets I already have in my house.

I called Kohler hoping they'd say that only the Lowes Fairfax (which has a different model number than the ones you get from a wholesaler or plumbing store) are plastic, but she said they all are.

Can anyone confirm this? My daughter picked these out -it's her bath- and I assumed they'd be high quality like our Purist faucets. Now I am worried! I'd already bought a Moen Monticello faucet, before she decided she liked Fairfax, and it's a similar style with totally solid, all-meta handles....
