search option gives blank screen

Hi,

When using the search option in Garden Web, I encounter a blank screen. The address bar shows it is going to the site I requested, but only a blank screen comes up. This mostly happens on the garden forums part of GardenWeb. Any clue as to how I fix this; it's very annoying.

That happened to me last night. Maybe a temporary glitch that will be repaired.

It is still going on ; I'm just wondering if the problem is at my end or this end. I keep trying to "search" the forums, only to come up with a blank screen.

These are all great ideas! I wish I could plant a double hedge, as suggested by mauirose, but there are set back restrictions where I live. I don't have enough room. I never thought of Perle d'Or. I'll have to think about that one.... I love both Louis Philippe and Mutabilis. LaMarne also does very well here, but I do know that the flowers bleach white almost instantly here. Maybe I shouldn't care about that. Our sun, heat, and humidity are brutal here, and becoming more so with global warming. Whatever I pick will have to be able to withstand all that, and maybe a hurricaine too. My very favorite roses are tea roses, and there are some that do stay "smaller". However, with most I am just not sure how long they will thrive here unless grafted on fortuniana. People are just recently trying them on their own roots (I'm one of them). Mrs BR Cant is one that seems to live a long time here. I'd hate to have to start over with a privacy type of hedge if they started to decline in a few years. That said, it is still a consideration, for sure! The rose I end up using can get as tall as it wants. The issue is it would be best if I can keep it at an 8 ft. diameter relatively easy. I don't mind pruning a bush back once a year, MAYBE twice a year, but I prefer to not have to do it every month to keep it off the screen. Ehann, I haven't figured out what to do with all the Mrs. BRs yet. I don't know how well she transplants, but if I make a change, then I'll have to see if anyone wants any Mrs BRs. I had actually had second thoughts after I had ordered the Mrs Brs, because of her massive size and the screen damage concern, but when I tried to cancel my order they had already been shipped out. Then I thought I could control her. ha! Ha! Roses like me and grow well, so I don't know where I came up with the idea that I could control her when so many others before me could not. As far as hedgetrimmers go, I usually hand prune everything, but with this "hedge" they may be a necessity. Sandy

the confusing thing with about:blank is it can be a legit response to having your homepage set to blank that instance if perfectly fine, then there is a nasty malware that incorporates an about:blank instance, that one is often very hard to get rid of, and it now appears this one you have found is yet another variable which may not be part of that nasty malware (coolwebsearch) but is some kind of ad link. It is pretty confusing. about:blank = the URL interpreted by most web browsers as the command to display a blank HTML document I think if it were me I would just avoid weather.com for now. If you are showing clean with all your scans I think you are ok. Just in case your IE is not set up this way you might want to check and make sure. This is for IE 6.0. For other browsers, check microsoft or your browsers developer. # Go to tools --> Internet Options and select Advanced tab. UN-check "Enable Install On Demand" and "Allow Software To Run or Install". That is UN-check! # Go to security tab --> Internet --> Custom Level. Set " Download Unsigned Controls ' and " Initialize and Script Active-X controls not marked as safe " to Disable. Set ' Download Signed Controls ' to Prompt. If you are not experiencing your actual homepage being hijacked and changed to about:com then I don't think you have the coolwebseach variant.

Fallingwaters - Yes, I would like a garage entrance, preferably in the far right corner. It's a small garage and I want to keep the stairs along the exterior wall in case we someday downsize our SUZ and get a small car that can fit in this one car garage. As for the view, I prefer the back view and view off the deck. On the right / garage side, I only have a narrow walkway and no view. The rough sketch I have above is just about my whole downstairs. My front door is in the center of the house with stairs leading up in front of my basement stairs; a cape cod style home. I will link to my draft blue print. I feel there is room for improvement in terms of space allocation and I am open to reducing the side of the working kitchen if it improves flow and space functionalilty. Chibimimi - I could move the door to garage, but it is better in some ways to keep it in that corner, as discussed above. Yet, I am open to all ideas that make the overall layout better. I also invision the kitchen on the garage side. Yes, I could put the half bath in the DR / garage corner. I think the code would allow it since my current half bath is designed in this manner. Yes, a spot for my dog would be ideal, especially since she sleeps in a crate at night. I will look at tambour doors, I am not familiar with this. Thanks for your feedback. GW is wonderful! Ideas? Blank wall above banquette

Thanks so much for all of your helpful suggestions last month about what to do with the alcove above my banquette. We decided (for now) to take down the mirror and build paneling in that area to match the molding profile on our kitchen cabinet doors. I think DH did a great job matching the trim on our cabinets. This may look a little plain and in the photos the trim detail is washed out; but in real life it makes the banquette area even more integrated into the kitchen, especially since everything is painted in the same color. The magnetic paint is still underneath the top coat of white paint and you can see it in action in this photo: We are still trying to decide what art work or clock to put on the wall above; for now we've put a picture of our house by a local artist. After the holidays when I have more time I plan to make a thin, tufted back for the banquette, possibly with a nailhead trim detail: A clock for the wall above is still a possibility; I'm also thinking a glass shelf for plants (one of the GW suggestions) or these glass wall pockets might be interesting in that space: Comments and suggestions are still welcome!

I have had that happen in the past, and tried a couple of searches, or just gave up, before I figured out that if I scrolled down, the search results were there. There was just a lot of white space that pretty much filled my screen, with the results below that. Maybe this is what is happening to you.

It is not just you and the problem is not on your end. I am having the same thing on some of the forums. I'm not sure if it is all of them or not.

If I go to the Seed Exchange, and just put by name in the search box below the list of threads, it brings up all of my posts there. If I add a second word to the search to narrow it, it comes up with a blank screen and there is no scroll bar to the right at all.

It's happening on this page, too. It's taking 30 seconds or longer sometimes for the page to appear----just a blank white screen for quite a while. Tried different browsers and it made no difference.

It was raining hard here and I thought my internet connection was down.... it wasn't me,, it was this site was having problems. It still was a minute ago on secure pages to user profiles.

I'm having the blank page problem when I click on a post without searching for it. I'm not able to see any posts on the garden side. They are all just coming up White blank pages.

Saturday morning; I am still getting an occasional blank screens just clicking on the subject line.

There is a red alert on the Forum's homepage just above the threads.
