Power supplies are very easy to replace. Dell uses propriatary power supplies with different plugs than the ones you buy at electronic stores. Just be sure to get a Dell or a Dell clone power supply which matches your computer.

Then to install all you have to do is unplug the computer and unscrew the old supply and BEFORE you remove any of the old plugs, just lay the new supply next to the old and as you unplug each plug, plug in the new one. They are color coded so no big problem.

It's hard to know for sure if it's just the power supply as lightening may have fried the rest of the computer, was it on a surge suppressor. If so, the manufacturer of the supressor should reimburse you for the loss.

Do you have power at the wall outlet? Any Circuit breakers tripped? I realize this is basic, but first things first. Grady

Silly question but something easily overlooked. Did you check that there is in fact power at the wall plug you are using? Even if your only protection is a power strip it has a reset button on it that may have tripped.

I think you need to confirm it is the power supply before spending your money.

Ooops, Grady had the same idea while I was typing my response. Ah well, better twice than not at all and it turns out to be your problem.

It was on a surge protector. Other things on surge protector still work,,, cable modem, printer, monitor.

The wall outlet is good,, and I checked the box on other recepticles.

I'm not getting anything when power button is pressed.

Andre, one more possibility. I looked at my Dell manual as I have a similar model and they suggested trying another
power cord, they said try the one from your monitor or whatever, but any would do. Apparently sometimes the cord dies? That's what they suggest.
