Ah, Sandy. I still have OS 8.6 functional on a Mac II CI. Still, I don't ever use the machine anymore, because it is soooooo slow! On the other hand, my Power Mac G4 400, is now an "old" machine also, and I have upgraded the OS to vs. 10.2.8, but that's as far as I can go, without a new machine. It is a never ending money pit, but new machines are unavoidable, just to stay connected to the web and email. Even your ISP will not support systems but sooooo old, and if you want things to work well, you are forced to upgrade at some point. I can tell you that you won't need anything more than an iMac, today, to get very adequate capabilities on a Mac. I can also tell you that the price gap between wintel and Mac has all but disppeared, if you compare functionality to funtionality. In fact, at work, I actually had to pay more for a Dell, that did the same job as a Power Mac G5. (smile) If you have an Apple store anywhere near you, it might be worth checking a new machine out. (Or a Fry's superstore, although they won't be able to offer as much help to you, as the Apple store, in looking at what the new machines will do.) Otherwise, my favorite on-line folks are Small Dog. Best support out there.....including Apple. (smile)

Option-Command-Esc (pressed together) will get you to the force quit menu. Control-Command-Eject (pressed together) will close all applications and restart the computer Not quite sure what the problem may be but you might want to try a different browser, Safari isn't the best. I primarily use Firefox but also have Chrome. Both work fine. I haven't used Microsoft Office on a Mac in quite a while so I can't comment on it. I know they added Outlook and maybe something else to the current suite. I do use Open Office and have generally been pleased. The only drawback is that it is not 100% compatible with Microsoft Office. As an aside a while back I worked on a PowerPoint project with a guy who had MS Office on his Mac. At the time I had a Windows machine. What's interesting is that the Mac version of Office had features that Windows version didn't have. I recall there was a slide transition that we added on his Mac. The transition functioned perfectly on the Windows machine and I could even edit it but couldn't add it to another PowerPoint project.

Gene, My need to code HTML is pretty limited. Mostly I post ads to Craigslist and adjust formatting within someone else's framework. No style sheets or scripts, so I don't need a full-blown editor, heck, a text editor works fine but can be a bit tedious. I was using SeaMonkey but with the latest greatest update it started adding "space" to my code. It didn't effect the output but there were lines of "space" within the code that seemed to grow with every save. Just annoying as heck. KompoZer seems to work ok, especially given the price but it wants to create code that meets the latest, greatest standards which doesn't always help me. Of course, if you need to manage a site with many files, Dreamweaver's site management tools are the way to go. Neither, SeaMonkey or Kompozer have them.

Mine came back after I did a search for a thread in kitchens. No threads from other forums showed up. Once I had found the thread I was looking for and clicked back it still showed the old GW kitchen URL. I copied it, pasted the link in my bar above.
