Its a Toss Up Between These 2 Bosch DWs. What do you think?

The price is basically the same. What do you think? I would be getting 2 of them for kitchen use.

SHX68R55UC :

Has a nicer display (hidden controls with LCD read out on front). This model just came out. No 3rd rack or softener (don't think we need a water softener).

SHE7ER55UC :

has a 3rd rack for culterly which people like becuase it also fits like spatulas in there. Not sure if we need space savings with 2 DWs. basically same price. The top one just came out.

We just got the shx58e15uc which has the third rack. We use it all the time and it frees up precious space in the lower rack.

All of the preceding reminds me of this: A friend in the mower business called me one day and said he had something for me--so i went to his place. He brought out a new mower, used once, he said. Guy returned it-said the oil was watery! So, my friend gave him another one! Of course, all of the tags and warning stickers had been torn off. So, i took it home, installed the correct amount of oil, pushed the primer bulb, pulled the rope and it started and ran well! So, i then sold it to a friend, and it ran for 7 years, finally the deck gave out, and he junked it! The way i figure it, the first guy took it home, tore off all of the tags and tossed the book under the work bench, filled the gas tank, and went to mowing! With no oil in the engine. Possibly, the only lubrication on the crankshaft was the grease they put on it for assembly! Luckily, the engine just slowed down and stopped with no damage. Dum-de-dum-dum-dum!

This is great feedback. Thanks everyone. Looks like I should be able to get two Miele's for around $2K. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, especially with such a high quality machine - I assume they are excellent in cleaning, which is the main job we all need a DW to do. I do need panel-ready DWs. Does anyone know if the Classics are available in panel-ready?

Funny, I just got my new Bosch installed last weekend - to replace the Kitchenaid that I couldn't stand!! It is the Integra 800 (SHX98M09UC). I can't believe how excited I am about something so silly! The Kitchenaid was louder and just felt clunky to me. It was also only about 5 years old and the racks are rusting. Plus the door made this horrible squeaking on open and close. Perhaps I just got a lemon but I've missed my Bosch until now. I do admit that the interior of the Bosch looks smaller, but there are only 2 of us. And one of my requirements was no heating coils. I am back to putting whatever I want whereever I want. I also found that the KA was not any better at drying plastics. . . To each his or her own I guess.

Thank you! Our builder installed them when I was having a weak moment. I just didn't have the energy for a fight; so, I kind of sighed and said oh well. I thought about it all weekend, and I decided that it wouldn't be acceptable to have it that way for the next 20 years. So, I looked up the specs and saw that the entire DW is only 21.75" deep. So, you'd think it would work, right? While I did this research at work yesterday and posted my question to all of you, the countertop people came into our house and screwed the DW in place (so that the panel, whenever it is installed, would stick out). I told our builder that I want him to figure out how to make it flush once the cabinet panels are in. That would mean unscrewing the DW from the counter and drilling new holes in the granite, but I think I could live with that since they are in the underside of the granite and you'd never see it. Isn't it funny how sometimes some things move so fast when you don't want them to, and then at other times, they don't move at all? Thank you!

Personally, for the same price I would choose the SHX7ER55UC. It is in the 800 Plus series with the 3rd rack and has the cleanest front.

I have KA, not Bosch, but I love the cutlery tray and wouldn't buy a dishwasher without it now that I have one.

Thanks for your input. I like the small LCD up front because it lets you know whats going on. which is why i was leaning toward it. That and a 30 min quick wash, i dont think the 800 Plus has.

I think the racks are different between the 800 series and the 800 plus. The 800 Plus being nicer which is a concern. I think the 800 racks are the same as the 500 series.

Do you guys find the 3rd rack takes up too much space in away from the "middle" (the old top rack)?

I can get the SHX68R55UC for $900 each. while keeping in mind I will have 2 of these units on either side of the sink (so space isnt too much of an issue). Do you think its still worth the extra $200 a unit?

Also do your 800 Plus DWs have a cancel and drain feature?

None of the 800 Plus list a cancel and drain, but I' noot sure Bosch would consider that a "program". The SHX7ER55UC is so new that I wish some owners would speak up if they are reading this forum. We don't need a new dishwasher at the moment but it is my top choice or the panel ready version which lists for $100 more.

The SHX68R55UC list a cancel and drain. Its probably not that important on a unit that has hidden buttons. I have no idea why they keep putting a LCD on the top of the door. You cant see it when the door is shut. The SHX68R55UC also has the info light and a time left read out. It seems redundant.

Does anyone have pictures of a 800 PLUS rack layout? I just loaded the same rack in the SHX68R55UC and it kinda sucks.

i would be interested in the new bosch dishwashers as well if owners can chime in SHX7ER55UC or SHX8ER55UC is what i am looking at.

Are they us made or german anyone know?

the 800 Plus have cancel and drain.. as per manual:

Cancel a cycle
1 Open the door just far enough to expose the control panel. Be careful of hot water that may splash out.
2 Press and hold the [Start] button for approximately 3 seconds until the display reads "0:01".
3 Close the door and wait about 1 minute while the dishwasher drains.
4 Open the door and press the [On/Off] button.

If getting a panel ready model, check to see what the price on a Thermador is. When I bought mine, the Thermador was essentially the same machine for less.
