Hi again, Here is the architect's elevation pic. The one above does not show the cladding material, and I just figured out how to send the architect's picture. This image does not show the window trim that we are planning around the windows on the siding part of house. After playing around with house visualizer sites, I am leaning towards the following body: greige - Quary stone board and batten house trim, soffits, facia, freize board - charcoal roof - charcoal (already done) windows - white (already done) window trim around door and siding windows - charcoal board and batten I think the greige has enough gray in it that pairing it with charcoal (not sure how dark of charcoal to go) should work. I wanted to also let you know that the front door will be changed to a 8 foot double door with 3/4 glass (hopefully this will tie in the deck door better). With the taller front door, the transom above will be shorter. Also there will be a bit more brick over garage than is showing. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. Carol

Hey Everyone, Thank you for the responses. I never thought of installing a buck - that's probably what I am going to do. I actually appreciate the response of fixing the current window and evaluate each of my windows as I address them with this in mind. I like the old glass and understand the advantages of my older wood windows. That being said, some of my windows are simply not salvageable beyond building new sashes and starting over - the cost of which in terms of money and time would, at least according to my analysis, exceed the cost of a reasonably high-quality replacement. Some of my windows are also very difficult to access (I have a few 3 stories high in dormers) making the swap of the storm and screen difficult at best. The owner before me installed aluminum storm windows on some of these, but as far as I can tell they are garbage for the most part. All they did was succeed in causing a lot of damage - those are the only windows in the house (out of more than 40) that have rotted sills and jambs. Anyway, thanks again everyone. I am really thankful to have this forum and others like it. I have been working to renovate my house for the last 5 years and simply could not have done it without your help.

Cp - I saw a bunch like the one you showed, but ours has extended trim under so I was thinking it may have a different "look"? I actually wanted it like the pic but the builder and I had a miscommunication :-/ and now it's like the way you see above.

Alicia Gordon - I was looking back at some old threads and found your post about paint colors in your dining room. If you see this thread, would you mind posting a photo of one of your dining room windows to show how they were trimmed out at the bottom? The photo that I saw in your other thread does not show the bottom half. I actually need to know how to trim out the bottom for another room...not my dining room. We have the same window trim and I would like panels at the bottom for my bedroom windows. BTW - Have you been happy with your darker dining room walls? We are building and are thinking of using a similar color to your BM Bucktrout. Friends and family keep telling me that the walls will be too dark for the dining room. We will have Pure White wainscoting all around the room, plus 4 large windows, so I think those touches will lighten up the room enough.
