Firefox tool bar

I was reading an old thread by Raven about great tips using FF. I tried to organize my bookmarks and somehow lost all my links to my frequently visited sites. They used to be lined up on the tool-bar below the address bar. I could drag an website icon and place it there. Now they are all gone. The bar is still there - blank - and it won't let me drag anything there. I get an X when I try. I still have the bar with the tabs, but I had my favorite sites above the tab bar.

Can anyone figure out what I did wrong and how to undo it?

Nevermind...I clicked on restore default and they came back with a bunch more.

I'm never trying that again!

kudzu9 you can certainly do a lot of changes to the firefox chrome which is that entire area where the various toolbars are, it would be by making changes(editing) the UserChrome.css, some things can probably also be changed in about:config in firefox also. I think there are some extensions that are additional toolbar buttons which allow some of those changes by using the customize feature as zep mentions, you would add the toolbar buttons extension which adds many more options and buttons to that list. If you do some searching you can likely find ways to get it exactly how you want it. I have my firefox chrome very customized. The use of various themes is of course another option, and may well be the easiest route, if you go to the themes page and search for AEON Big and AEON Jumbo those are both themes for sight problems HiVis Large 3.5.3 that one is part of the Access Firefox project for sight impaired. Access Firefox I think the Anycolor theme in Access firefox project is the most customizable and allows you to change the size of all of the writing on the bars in the firefox chrome, it is an excellent choice for a very customized firefox especially for those with poor eyesight. ravencajun, I have uninstalled FF and rebooted, two times. It still happens. I found this in my advanced system information, under view the error log. ( The IP address lease then my IP numbers follow for the network card with network address then more numbers has been denied by the DHCP server then my IP address.)The DHCP server sent a DHCPNACK message) Also another one that said- (Your computer has lost the lease to it's IP address then my IP numbers on the network card with network address then more numbers.) Never mind. I found that the toolbar was still listed under add ons. Got rid of it there also and now the text is back to where it was. I hate those little things they add into free programs. Why do I always fall for free. upnflyin

that toolbar is called the bookmarks toolbar, it can accidentally removed when you are adjusting the chrome as you were, when you click on view then toolbars at the top it has the various toolbars listed there if you want it to show it must have a check mark in front of it if you remove the checkmark the toolbar will disappear until you again put a check mark there in front of it in that list.

Thanks Ravencajun. I'll see if, somewhere in the links you gave, I can find a way to get the Bookmarks the way I want them. The best one was way back in an old Netscape. Probably Netscape 4 or so. The one in Firefox and in IE are terrible and so inefficient. Looked at 100 (out of over 700) FF add-ons, but couldn't find anything comparable. Kat
