AOL Favorites disappeared!!

Amazingly enough I haven't had problems with AOL in the 6 years I've had AOL. Until now. This morning I saw that my entire list of "Favorites" (over a hundred!!) has completely disappeared. Unfortunately I never backed those up. When my computer guy does backups I don't think it includes that. Needless to say I'd love to get them back. I haven't called AOL yet but do plan to tomorrow. Just wondered if anyone else has had this problem.

Thanks

Ginny

There are member boards on AOL that can help you I can email them to you. Let me know.
In the meantime did you sign off and then let the computer rest about five minutes then sign back on? They say that will sometims reinstate the favorites. Hope so.

I agree with your son, I only use firefox and find it so much better, there are so many very useful add ons for it that help me with many of my needs. If you do decide to get firefox and need help just ask many of us here use it. You would want to add the adblock plus addon and the easylist subscription to it which will prevent all those bothersome ads you see. And firefox will ask you if you want to import all your IE faves and settings when you are installing it so it makes it very easy to have everything done on install, and your xmarks would work on firefox as well.

I sure hate that. The very first message board I ever visited was an AOL "get organized " board. It was fun like this one is. One day some people couldn't get in and within a couple of days it was completely gone. A few of us women started an e-mail group and stayed in touch for years. When we first moved to the country we were on dial up. I had so much trouble getting online. When I finally did I would get bumped off before reading only a couple of e-mails. After a couple of months I finally gave up. I told them to drop me off of the e-mail list. I didn't even try to get online for a few months until we got fast access. I sure miss those ladies. They were a bunch of fun. Linda

I have AOL and Comcast and haven't had any trouble with either. But, I do have Broadband, so maybe that is the problem. Either browser works ok for me. AOL has been making some changes lately, though, so maybe there is a glitch from time to time.

Minnie, I would love anything you can pass my way to help resolve this! My computer has been turned off several times since this first occured yesterday. Didn't help :(

Smoker, I haven't ever used Restore but I could try that. I'm always timid about trying new things.

Thanks for your ideas!!

If you get your Favorites back and want to make a backup.
Open Favorites - Manage at the bottom - On the new list
Click the top one and click save.

When you want to make a new Favorites List (Update it)
Do as above but before you click Save - Right Click the old
Favorites and left click Delete.
Now click Save for your Updated List of Favorites.

I lost all my Favorits a couple of days ago. I didn't wait to see if they would come back. I used my backup.
This was done by clicking the second item on the
Manage list.

As far as I can find out AOL doesn't allow Exports of Favorites but it does allow Imports of Favorites from
Internet Explorer.
If you have a lot of Favorites in Internet Explorer this would help some to bring them into AOL.

AOL Favorites can be Exported to AOL Buddy but not to IE.
If you try you will receive (Not a Valid Bookmark)
