Making Titles for CD's, Need Information,Pleas!

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 w/Service Pack2

Toshiba Satellite Intel)R)Pentium(R)M

processor1.60GHz

1.60DHz. 480MBof RAM

I've got pictures of my gardens as they evolve each month & I want to get them on a cd. I know how to do that! But what I also want to do is label each section e.i. January 2007, February 2007, etc. I thought about typing out a sheet with the title on it, then taking a picture of it, but is there an easier,more efficient way to do this? If you can help, please remember I'm not all that computer literate to cope with technical language. TIA Pat

Do you by any chance have Windows Movie Maker on your computer? If you do, try playing with that and make a nice slide show of your pictures. You can add captions wherever you like and also add music if you wish. Then you could burn it to a CD and it would make a nice keepsake for you and maybe a gift to someone else. I did this, and through trial and error I finally got a product that I liked. I have it saved in My Documents, but I also burned it to a CD for keeping. It ended up being fun!

I have nothing on my machine called Windows Movie Maker. Is this software that can be purchased or is it normally in Windows? and thank you for responding.

I can tell you from the experience of hanging around this planet for 68 years now and having many Fridges and seeing many over that time span, That the bigger the better as far as Fridges go, and also the shallower ones IE CD or built in, just make everything so easy to see. We love our 48" Built in Jenn-air Fridge, I paid $4588 for it 5 years ago (That's one reason why you see soooooo many posts by me on "Fixed Pricing/Gouging". I got mine before Jann-air was MSRPed, or whatever, and I hate to see folks hafta "Shovel out" almost twice what I did then for something similar. But being our World is what it is , in the US Today, I would still splurge for the Freedom columns. If I had it to do again, I probably would, Just cause we like as much "Kewl Space" as possible alto to be honest the 48" pretty well fits the bill as far as space, cept the freezer is always stuffed full. You may be younger than us, but we figgered this our last kitchen---we will leave this house "Toes First" so I dont regret at all any of the money we spent for it, and almost daily, the wife "Still Proclaims" how much She Loves the Kitchen!!!! If you DO download undercover xp and you want to print the 'Actual Cover' that goes with the CD or DVD .. Open the program and at the top, click on 'Help'. In the drop down box you will see where it says, "download covers" .. I recommend Freecovers.net

Randy, When I saw the title of your post, I wondered if you can even still get CD recorders, however, you can get DVD recorders pretty cheap now. What about one of those? The only issues I can think of are 1) most need a video signal to record, they won't run without it (but you could experiment) - it could be anything, a feed from a camera or a cheap test pattern generator... The other issue is whether you'd have trouble ripping the audio from the dvd, although there's plenty of software out there to do it, much of it free for download....of course, you could also just digitise it in through your audio inputs, I seem to remember Windows have that provision somewhere.... You can get a DVD recorder for less than $200 and the quality's good, even better than CD depending on your options....and the recording duration can be quite lengthy depending on quality levels ( it affects video, not sure if audio's scaled back too) and if you get a dual-layer recorder, well even longer. Lots of these recorders work with rewritable disks, so there's a saving for you.

Thank you...your kindness overwhelms. you know, I did go to my beloved Jerusalem there, for just a few days, the only thing I truly did for myself only, don't remember whether I mentioned that..went in August, very spontaneously...and I had this very nice very extravert type of a taxi driver to take me there..and very soon he chatted out of me all the story.. So he says, at some point: -ok I understand what do you want for your Mother..and I understand about your brother..and I understand about the husband and kids. That, I get it -what you worry about regarding them all. But how do you see your life? YOURS? And I sat there and I didn't know what to answer him. And I still don't. I still think "me? what me?" then I think "what life?" then I think "let me have this life first". then I'll try to see what I can see.. Maybe I'll edit that later btw. Doesn't make any sense when I try to read it..Except for the first sentence of course.

According to the Microsoft site you shouldÂ have
Movie Maker...Â XP Home Features Â I have XP Pro and mine is in Programs, Accessories, Entertainment....

CalPat - you do have Movie Maker - it comes with XP.

On my machine, I can find it by going to START->ALL PROGRAMS->ACCESSORIES->WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER.

It is a fun program to use. It makes great slideshows - and after playing with it for a bit, I find it quite easy to use! You can add both stills and video to the slideshow. You can narrate, if you have a microphone plugged in, and add music.

You could also try "XnView" slideshow maker.
It gives you a stand-alone slide show..meaning you don't get a player showing on the screen when viewing and I find the images are better quality in full screen.
You can add music and transitions but none of the extras that WMM gives you.
For a lengthy slideshow you'll have to "join" your tunes but that's simple enough.
You can attach titles to the bottom of your slides a Paint programme or make title slides in Paint.

Thanks so very much, all of you! I think I finally got into the "ballpark". Movie Maker was not in my programs, probably got bounced out in one of my infamous "crashs". BUT I did find it at MS and got it downloaded & installed, almost 3 hours. I'm on dial up! Ive got an icon on my machine now, so the next step, I think, will be to go into the programs Instruct &Help sections and start from there. You have all referred to Paint for various chores, this I have but have never used it. I've got a lot of learning to do before I tackle this project. Thanks again all, I really do appreciate your time and expertise! Pat
