You can not run 2 antivirus programs at the same time if they are both running full time it will cause a conflict that is very well known and documented and will be told to you at any of the support forums you go to so you need to fully remove Norton since you now have AVG. go here and use app remove and the norton removal tool from the security garden link Antivirus Product Removal Tools Using AppRemover it is free spybot search and destroy was at one time very good but today there are some that are much preferred so I suggest replacing spybot and adaware with these free products, update them each time you use them and scan weekly with full scan. I have installed, used and recommended the following programs. Uninstall all other Anti-virus programs, spyware hunters etc. Download and install the following (all free, by the way) 1. AVG Free Antivirus 2. Lavasoft Adaware (Personal edition-free) 3. Spybot Search and Destroy 4. Spyware Blaster (that name only..no variations) 5. Crap Cleaner 6. A-squared 7. System Security Suite (that name only..no variations) 8. Index.dat suite Use these..you will have no problems. Hope this helps.. txKen

You can get information about protecting your computer with free programs on this page. AVG free will do the job well but it sounds like you got the paid version. If you download from the page I linked you will get the free version. The others work well also. They can be download from the link also. Check out the other recommended protection on the page.

For what it is worth, my new Vista system had Norton Symantec and it created all sorts of problems. As a result I uninstalled it and installed AVG. AVG works fine and I have not had one concern with it. Being free it makes the conversion even sweeter. Good Luck! Enjoy! DA
