I mounted mine at 66" from the floor. They are on each side of the mirror. "They" tell you to mount them at 60", but we found that way too low.

We also did 66". I used guidelines suggested on This Old House website and we are really happy with it. It gives a very flattering light -but we are both under 6ft.

Well it's a quorum :) Sounds like 66" will be it...maybe a *touch* lower, since I'm only 63", but definitely not just 60".

I've got residual arthritis or something in my thumb from all the grouting/caulking/caulk removal/caulking and also pretty instant nerve damage in my right thumb and first two fingers from all the tile re-edging last summer...it hasn't gone away and I'm guessing may never...) At any rate, I was just thinking of you and your amazing bath designs and how they helped me when I was first conceptualizing all those years ago...thanks again for your hard work and generosity on that. I just don't know where this bath would have been if not for g'web.

I still have fun playing with people's floor plans. I am now soaking up as much info as I can for my kitchen floorplan. I'm finding it much harder than a bathroom.

My right hand frequent falls asleep when I'm doing anything that raises it above my waist. I also get what I think is arthritis pain in all my fingers when I clench them. I have avery hard time opening things. But the satisfaction I get from doing my own projects makes it all worth it!

I actually came back to this thread because I heard Candace Olsen tell Chico to put the sconces 64 inches above the floor. Yours will be just right, LOL!

OH, you're doing the kitchen now?? When we did the kitchen, it was just a materials/arrangement overhaul, no footprint change. Sidestepped a lot of choices. Doing a full footprint change is where it gets tough. Are you taking walls out?

We're *trying* to get this mostly finished by my birthday (end of September). We are prioritizing it more and more over doing "fun" things -- if we don't, it won't finish itself. DIY DUH-moment :) I may post pics...I still feel uncomfortable from having been stalked (not here) back in 2003. It was SO creepy how this guy managed to put together things from various places on the net that don't have my name on them...UGH...so I'm a bit/rather scarred from it. Maybe a little something will appear, if I get brave.

Sorry to hear about your hand. You sound like we have pretty much the same situation--is it from remodeling?

Actually we are adding walls more than anything. It will be awhile since we have to save a bit longer for it. However, things are falling apart everytime I turn around. I am getting the floorplan completely finished and will start shopping for appliances. I'd be happy with closeouts and scratch-n-dent. I'm researching cabinets and design ideas like crazy. I want everything in place when the sledge hammer starts swinging, LOL!

My hand is falling asleep as I type. I am pretty sure the numbness is from a pinched nerve somewhere right between my shoulder blades. I get pain there from time to time. I think I figured out that it's from 12 years of carrying kids on my right hip. The muscles in my back are tighter on the right. I really should get to the chiropractor, but something else always gets in the way :(

I had not idea you were stalked. Creeeepy!! Did you ever find out who it was? Was he prosecuted? I sure don't blame you for being nervous. As much as we'd love to see pics, we certainly understand.

Yes, that's my hand situation too! I carried only 4 years on my left hip, and have that residual cramp right down at the top of the hip/base of back. We never do take care of ourselves; it's like those kinds of pain are expected and we should put up with them...but it does drag you down and really gets in the way of other things--because of the weird hand numbness/pain I can't paint for more than 10 minutes at a stretch anymore, for instance. We deserve to have them addressed if we feel the need, I think!

Yes, the stalking was really creepy. It was an eBay win that the seller didn't like because it went for too little, so he dragged his feet for the required month, never sending the bike (for my DH to get to work), never even returning e-mails -- I finally reported him to eBay (they did nothing to get me my money back, since he knew the rules and knew if he dragged me out for 30 days, they would wash their hands of any responsibility--I ended up challenging it directly on my credit card--paypal wouldn't do anything either) and he went nuts. I don't know how he found out all he did; he's a much better researcher than I am (or maybe hacker?).

He mentioned in e-mails all the different addresses we'd lived at, made idiotic comments about my career pre-child just to show he knew where I'd worked, etc....I took it, hoping he'd exhaust himself and go away, but when I saw him start talking about my DD and saying he had ways of reaching out clear across the country and threatening that "too bad your daughter is going to have to bear the brunt of your stupidity", I immediately called the police that instant, shaking, and I printed out all the e-mails and had a big pile waiting for the officer when he showed up. The local police called the Massachusetts police, who went and "talked" with him and finally it stopped. I never heard anything again but I was actually very leery being at home with her alone for at least 6 months after.

EBay did do one thing: at least the last time I checked (a long time ago), eBay had cut him off, but I don't know if he worked his way back on under a different name.

Some people are so sick! The fact of the matter is you can find out just about anything on anybody with the internet. Very scary! But get between a mother and her babies and you'll be sorry! ;D

Glad that's all over for you now. My niece's ex has been calling her and threatening to hurt her mom (my sister). Since my niece moved back in with my sister, I flat out told her I wouldn't go over there -- at all. My sis is doing lots of remodeling and wanted my help and input. Well, too bad. He's most likely all hot air, but I'm not taking a chance!
